negative test but confusing clinic advice.

We had our 6th cycle this month.

A FET with grade A embryo. I tested 11 days post transfer it was BFN.

I continued to test 12 days and 13 days post transfer and it was BFN on a home urine test.

I contacted the clinic to explain that we were negative and they said because I haven’t seen any period I should continue taking progesterone and test again in 2 days time.

This is not helpful to me. Me and my partner know that the pregnancy tests we’ve been using measure 10 ML of HCG so I know we aren’t pregnant.

Has anybody had this kind of advice before? What’s everybody’s thoughts?

I just find that I am accepting of this failed treatment, start to move on in my mind, consider what the bleed will be like and try to prepare myself for it to be told to continue with medication. Surely the medication is what’s preventing my period?? And all I’m doing is now delaying the inevitable further. I just wish our clinic was more decisive.

The protocol for my clinic if negative on testing day is to stop taking progesterone and re-test 7 days later. Even if you do get a period, they still say to re-test.

While it’s a safe bet for you to move on emotionally from this result, I think that on their side they are trying to cover all bases - sometimes pregnancies just move slower, or complications happen. So it’s probably good practice on their side to monitor you closely for another few days, but it’s up to you if you want to do it or not ofc

I’m sorry, it’s really painful and it truly sucks to be in the unknown area between BFP and BFN where signs are unclear and the experience just drags on and on. And you must have done a few transfers and 2WW’s by now, and you probably don’t have any more emotions to give to this process. I hope it gets resolved soon and best of luck to you xx

It depends on the clinic but generally I think they'd err towards asking you to take the meds a little longer and retesting a couple/few days later just in case it's a late implanter. The period thing doesn't make much sense to me though as you're right that the progesterone should generally stop any bleeding.
