Medichecks help!

Eat-sleep-ivf-repeat profile image

So I’m no not the best with maths and need help as Google’s confusing me even more!

I ordered bloods through medichecks for DHEAs and testosterone as recommended on here and in the book “it starts with the egg”

I waited a week and my lab results are in…

Great- or so I thought!

Medichecks have given my results in

UMOL/L (6.1umol/l)

Whereas the recommended guidelines I have from the book states

MCG/DL ( optimal being around 180mcg/dl)

so my question is how on earth do I covert this?! To get my results in the correct format??

Please help else I’ve wasted even more money 😢

Sorry hun I'm no help I'm afraid, would it be worth going back to Medichecks and asking them to convert?

Google says : To convert μmol/l to mg/dl, multiply by 0.0113. To convert mg/dl to μmol/l, multiply by 88.4.

So that gives 0.06893mg/dl

Then to convert the mg to mcg you’d multiply by 1000 to make it 68.93mcg/dl

Does that seem right?

Thankyou it really confuses me although this is what I did also but needs to be 180 so think I’d be on the low side if so x

Hi lovely, I use unitslab.com for stuff like this. For DHEA-S it says 6.1 umol/l is equivalent to 224 mcg/dl. Link for the DHEA-S conversion page is here: unitslab.com/node/29

Thankyou for helping me … I’m not getting the same answers and I have no idea why 🙈 xx

It can get very confusing! Are you still having trouble or did the unitslab page clear things up?

You can also convert your testosterone result on unitslab - that page is here: unitslab.com/node/136

Thanks so much it’s giving me mg/l

Do you know how I’d adjust that to mcg/l

Thankyou ❤️

Ohh, I think I know where the confusion is. The symbol μg is the same thing as mcg (it's very confusing that μg is microgram and mg is milligram!). So you want to look for the result in μg/dL. Does that help?

That makes so much sense now! Thankyou! You’re a star ⭐️

I really needed your brains ❤️

they give you a range on medichecks- don’t try and convert as some are free dhea measurements and some are bound- different measurements- medichecks tells you the range and where your results sit

they only tell you where they sit in terms of general health. Women trying to conceive with ivf need to optimise there levels and this is the part I’m stuck with 🙈 xx

My clinic gave me DHEA without testing anything, just based on the fact that it would help as I had low AMH. Collections went better then expected, not sure if partially because of that x

Just to add, it was a very well know, top London ivf clinic
