Update - pinning all our hopes on one embryo

Thanks for all your well wishes.

We started with 5 eggs, which dwindled down to 2 embryos by day 3. As you know, we requested for a day 3 single embryo transfer against clinic advice. Well, it looks like my remaining embryo did not make it to blastocyst. We just got the call.

My clinic feels that the evidence supports day 5 transfers, not day 3. So they’re thinking if the embryos did not make it to day 5, then it would not have made it even if put back in the womb at day 3. Im not an expert but I still feel that my womb environment is better than any lab. So I think we made the right decision for us asking to put at least one back in on day 3.

This is our last go at IVF so I hope it works.

OTD is 31/1/24. No testing prior for me, I don’t cope well with that approach. Also, we are too poor now to buy too many tests!!

I am thinking of how shit it is that we all have to go through IVF but also how strong are we because here we are still standing.

And good luck to you! I just read your bio. We are also trying for a sibling for our girl. Everytime I start to think about how difficult this journey is, I am met with huge thanks that we have our little girl. She was also ICSI. Hoping you have lots of nice things planned? I’m working but at least that will keep me distracted!!

I took today and tomorrow off to take advantage of my husband being off too so he can take care of the 4yo and I can “rest”. Back to work and normal on Wednesday. To be honest I’m happy I don’t have to go to the office due to the storm, but working will help me get distracted and not becoming a serial tester 😂 (we’re also too poor now to buy loads of tests 😂).

Good luck lovely, it's funny how one clinic can give you advise on the completely opposite end of another, it just adds to the confusion we all have as we navigate this! Keeping everything crossed for you x

I know right! My clinic is in Australia so maybe different to UK. My first ICSI was actually in Birmingham and they were pushing for a day 3 transfer (that was successful!). Thank you for the well wish and good luck for your transfer tomorrow!!
