We had 2 embryos with potential from our first round of IVF. One was graded 4AB and the other 4BB. They chose to transfer the 4BB embryo as the 4AB contained a vacuole. Unfortunately this transfer resulted in a negative test. We are hoping to go ahead with a FET in March, but I already have in my head that it isn’t going to work due to the embryo containing a vacuole and not being good enough the first time round despite being of a higher grade. I was wondering if anybody has experienced anything similar? Has anybody had a transfer with an embryo containing a vacuole and was it successful? Thanks for your help, I’m loving reading everyone else’s questions and thought I’d ask what’s been playing on my mind too.

Hi Sunshine. A vacuole is as the embryo moves on to blastocyst stage some fluid gets trapped. Once transferred it can sometimes continue normally. I have heard of that happening, so speak to your embryologist for guidance. Good luck. Diane
