Hello, I finished taking utrogestan at just over 8 wks. I am now 9+1, baby scanned at 8+6 and all well šš¼ I am just wondering how long those taking utrogestan took it for ?! My clinic havenāt tested my levels and when I asked why it was finishing at 8 wks they said because my body no longer needs itā¦
I have a midwife app on the 9th and will mention this to them then but just curious š«¶š¼
To note I had a fresh transfer and was taking 200mg 3x a day
Hi, I'm 19 weeks, i was on Utrogestan 400mg 2x a day up to 17 weeks, i am now on 200mg 2x a day.
My gynecologist hasn't tested my levels.
Do you have a history as to why your clinic have kept you on it for longer ? From what I have read it seems to be within 8-12 wks itās being taken for unless need for more x
during my first pregnancy I was meant to take it til 12 weeks but was getting a rash from the progesterone injections so my fertility specialist and obstetrician were happy for me to stop all progesterone at 8 or 9 weeks. Obstetrician said the placenta is producing prog at that point so supplementation isnāt generally needed

Of course! It does feel very strange to stop something that was so important only a few weeks ago š
I believe most clinics say you can come off it some time 8-12 weeks as the placenta should be producing enough. With my first transfer I got bleeding/spotting when I tapered off it which stopped when I went back on the utrogestan (plus suspected low progesterone had been an issue for me in the past) and after a lot of tests and investigations my consultant said it was fine to stay on it for the whole pregnancy as it wouldn't do any harm and it stopped the bleeding. I think nearly all women taper off and are fine. You could get your levels checked if you're nervous or have a history, or if you get any symptoms like spotting, and then speak to your doctors about continuing it (midwives didn't seem to be able to help in my experience) but hopefully not needed.
Thank you for your advice, when I first started the initial IVF testing low progesterone was an issue which was why I was put on the Letrozole for 6 months as despite various hormones raising they didnāt think I was actually ovulating - thatās why i have concerns. I havenāt had any symptoms š¤š¼šš¼ but will still raise x

No it's absolutely fine, I don't think it's ever so clear to people that there is a second forum once pregnant. No offence caused x x
I just checked the forum link you sent & there are barely any members which suggests people arenāt as aware of that one, as they are of this one. Are you unable to post in this forum after a certain GA ? As I feel that the knowledge & support from those in similar experiences currently or past would be more so within this forum & appreciated by a lot of people x
I can tag DianeArnold for clarification and feedback but my understanding is it is indeed 6 weeks and then to move over to the new forum or the NCT one. As most people here are waiting for their pregnancies and babies and it can be hard to see posts later in to pregnancy. Here is a previous post from Diane to clarify this-

DianeArnold there doesn't appear to be too many members in the Pregnancy support group, can this be promoted on this forum a bit more by redirecting people and also maybe "bumping" your previous posts so that more people know?
Thank you x I appreciate you sharing š¤ I think there needs to be more awareness of the 6 wk + group, as you say I understand and know myself how hard it is to read other peoples success stories & despite being happy for them itās an unexplainable feeling.
The guideline post was 2 yrs agoā¦ which is a real shame as the forum is almost non existent & all of the valued knowledge is in here. I would hate for people to feel that they canāt ask questions, when I myself although new to forums full stop (I avoided previously due to the anxiety they can create) have taken a lot away from it x
I think there have been other posts more recently from Diane of the same nature, but I agree that more could be done to inform people of this second group. The more people that know, the more the group will grow and therefore become a place of increased knowledge etc

My doctor said at the confirmation ultrasound at 7w4d that I can slowly stop using it At first only 2x a day and then 1x a day.
