In theory yes, but you may have trouble getting a doc to prescribe it for you. I have low progesterone in my natural cycles (27 nmol/L), and also seem to be a bit insensitive to it. I have pretty severe intermenstrual bleeding that is presumed to be due to this after multiple hysteroscopies. I begged my IVF doc to let me try progesterone after ovulation before IVF but she flat refused and said it might stop me getting pregnant (which to this day makes no sense to me when I have really predictable ovulation). We still don't know why my progesterone is a bit low and I have tried all sorts to try to bring it up naturally.
Have you had your d21 progesterone measured and know it is low? Do you have symptoms of low progesterone? xx
Really sad for you, I agree with you, I don't understand why your doc refused, don't make much sense your doc explanation.
I am with NHS and I did a fresh and a frozen transfer and it didn't work. The doc said that everything is okay with me and my boyfriend before we start the ivf tratment, I don't think they check progesterone levels, I think could be that because I am 41. I read that depression and anxiety is one of the symptoms and because since young I suffeer from depression and anxiety Im thinking could be the cause.
I had my d21 progesterone tested before I started any fertility treatment (by my GP to make sure I was ovulating) so I would have though someone would have measured it for you at some point? As if you are not ovulating they can try things like Clomid. I think without any history of unexplained low progesterone, and no symptoms of low progesterone, adding in Utrogestan is unlikely to help in a natural cycle.
On my first transfer, I bled early as I was either not absorbing or not responding to progesterone properly. On this last transfer we switched up the progesterone and I did not bleed early this time and just got my BFP so I am hoping we have managed to get past my progesterone problems.
On my fresh transfer I start bleeding 9d after but I had swollen breasts and feeling bloated, with the fet and just feel a bit bloated and nothing else, it is why I started thinking if fet doesn't work with me...
Hi lovely, purpledoggy is correct that it's possible but you'll need a doctor to prescribe it and you should be taking it under supervision.
I have low progesterone so I'm actually doing this right now -- using progesterone while trying naturally -– but I'm working with a fertility clinic in Dublin who has me test my progesterone and oestradiol 7 days post-ovulation every month so we know what my levels are and can adjust accordingly xx
I was thinking that should be something to do under supervision but a private clinic can be so expensive and my boyfriend don't agree about spending so much money, he keep saying that private clinic take advantage of couples that are looking for help.
