I feel like my body is rejecting the embryo. Each time, after the transfer I have high temperature, high white cells in the blood and getting extremely sick until my period starts again. Did anyone have the same issue? If so, what did you do?
my body is rejecting the embryo I bel... - Fertility Network UK
my body is rejecting the embryo I believe
That's strange. Never heard if anything like that before. Did you mention this ro nurses ? I had 2 misscariages and I had additional tests done. They found that amount of ny Natural Killer Cells are higher than it should be. These are the cells that we all have, they fight all our diseases like flu or even cancer. But because my number is too high there is possibility that this os why my my body rejects any foreign body even embryo.
So now with any transfer I'm being given steroids to reduce NK cells.
but i did not have any of your symptoms at all.
I will beg to be tested for NK cells, but it is frustrating. They hardly test anything at all .
I know. I have done it abroad as its so hard in UK to have any additional tests. I know, I've done 5 egg collections in the last 5 yesrs ! When I mentioned i had 2 misscarrages in the clinic abroad they done those tests straight away. They said its usual process when someone had multiple miscarriages. When I showed results in UK they honored it and agreed that the number of cells is in theory too high..... It's annoying as I spent fortune by now.
Remember my first ever ivf. 8 eggs collected, 1 blastocyst. BFN as i got proper AF a week after transfer. Had not enough progesterone (pesaaries are not enought for some woman) . So with my second transfer I was on additional lubion. Frustrating as tthat couldn have been avoided if they only tested my hormone levels.
I think you should have your NK cells tested! I used to get a rash after implantation and they turned out to be high x I have been unable to get a positive test result since a miscarriage and the rashes started appearing x
I will ask clinic to test NK cells, but they do no tests at all. It is very frustrating. I don't feel like I can convince them to do the tests. I am afraid I will lose the upcoming embryo as well. I feel myself like an embryo killing machine.
contact CRP clinic Dr Shehata he is very good reproductive immunologist I would say hold on with any transfers until you had blood test done unfortunately this is private but you could ask your GP to refer you to recurrent miscarriage clinic it’s a long wait but another option, I had same test done and my NK cell are high plus thyroid antibodies so I’m on a immunology protocol. Hope it will help x
Same here. I had 3 early miscarriages and 2 failed implantations. I used to get the shivers after implantation. I had immunology blood tests done with Professor Shehata at the CRP and now I’m on an immunology protocol with Professor Shehata for our 6th transfer.
I think you should ask another clinic to do it for you… it’s so important because you could be wasting your babies! I wasted all my good eggs over two years and now I’m 42! I found out after two years of transferring embryos that I have an auto immune issue… please don’t let that happen to you xx
Sorry for the loss you had. It should be unbearable for you to lose 2 years like that. I am almost 40 now and I worry to have the same issue like you do. I'll do my best to be tested somewhere else.. even though I don't know where.. God bless.
thanks... I can share my clinic privately if you wish - just DM me...
Also i'm travelling to them as last clinic didn't test they just offered intralipids anyway! but i'm glad I tested because it confirmed what my gut instinct was telling me... I think doing the tests is worth it! where are you based?
Even if you 'pretend' you are going to another clinic and don't actually transfer you can do the preliminary testing with 'new clinic' and see what happens .. if it comes back negative just stay where you are - if you want to!
Thank you so much for these supportive suggestions. Currently my treatment is in the netherlands, therefore I need to find something here. I will contact to another clinic today to ask for immunity tests. I hope I can find someone who will do the tests. Thank you again for your very kind support!
By the way, what is intralipids? I never heard that.
it's a concoction they give you via a drip... it consists of peanuts and soy and some other stuff and for some ungodly reason it calms your NKcells down and allows some women to get pregnant? They have to give it to you a few times at the start of pregnancy and during stims...
When I had my first transfer, I felt like my body went into shock as a foreign object was inserted. For my following transfer I asked my clinic re NK Cells testing and they did not offer it. I did however manage to get them to prescribe me steroids. I got a BFP on the third attempt but definitely did not feel that shock reaction to my body on the 2nd or 3rd transfer. I have autoimmune in the form of vitiligo. So perhaps you can also a push for steroids if you are challenged with testing. Good luck x
