Hello everyone, Has anyone done microTese at UCLH hospital (London)?

My partner will have his surgery in April and we would like to hear good stories (if possible 💪) also if anyone got prescribed specific vitamins/medicine to take!

Unfortunately as NHS doesn't want to freeze my eggs, I can't go and have my egg collector at the same time as he dose sperm retrieve. They said they don't do it in case they don't find sperm so they don't have to freeze my eggs.

The only way the would do it at the same time is if we have a sperm donor as a plan B, so in case they don't find sperm on him, they can proceed with IVF and transfer with sperm donor and my eggs!

Any similar stories at uclh that people want to share with me ?

Thank you so much for the support and the knowledge all of you lovely people have!

My partner has Azoospermia. We found out after 2 years of trying. He had his surgical sperm retrieval in August this year after ruling out a number of possible causes. We were both expecting that they wouldn't find anything and our journey would end there, but they did manage to get lots of sperm from his testes which was amazing. He wasn't advised to take anything in particular but he takes Multivitamins everyday anyway. He was sore and swollen for about 4-5 days but otherwise his recovery went well.

We had our first egg collection on 1 December and got 10 eggs. 9 mature but only 4 fertilised. Apparently the sperm from the testes is immature sperm and doesn't always survive the thawing process too well so it was hard to find ones that survived, and then the eggs that fertilised were slow to develop to blastocysts, but apparently that is quite normal too given the development of the sperm.

By day 3, we lost an embryo but the other 3 were graded as high quality and doing well. By day 5, they were all still going but they hadn't formed blastocysts yet, they had started to but were slow. We were advised to have a double transfer which we did and we got a call on day 6 to say the last embryo had caught up so its been frozen.

Sadly though I'm not confident that this cycle is going to end in a BFP so i can't offer good news and assurances of success I'm afraid. I caved and tested yesterday (not supposed to test until Monday) and it was negative and i know some will say it's too soon to be sure, but by now i would've expected to see something. I had loads of symptoms and i put it down to the progesterone but now they've all gone.

I wish you and your partner all the best with your journey, i never expected it to be as difficult as it has been. I thought i would breeze through it but I've been a mess since the egg collection. As soon as i couldn't control anything that was happening i lost my mind a bit! Make sure to have a good support network around you, and someone you can confide in when it starts to feel a bit much.

Good luck and baby dust to you 💓
