Hi guys,After 5 days on Gonal F 300 and Femara, I've had my 1st scan and I am beside myself. There has been no response from either ovary. I have unexplained infertility and my AMH isn't bad for a 39 year old either. Doctor says to wait and re-evaluate in 3 days time. Dr Google, however, is telling me there's no hope. Anybody experience anything similar?
Thank you x

Hey - everyone is so different so it’s hard to know if someone else’s experience might happen to you but I didn’t respond either and after 300 of Gonal-F for 5 days, I was told to continue and go back in two days. After two days, my right ovary perked up a bit but my left didn’t and it eventually took another injection (Astarte) for 4 days on top of the Gonal-F to get me ready. In total, it was 12 days I was on the meds for.
It was so tough going through it and I felt pretty rough but I got there with 11 follicles, 7 eggs and 4 fertilised. Only two made it to day 5 blasto though but it was 2 more than I thought I’d have!
Keep trying to be positive. Keep taking the meds as they’ve advised you to and keep super hydrated as apparently that helps too. Just for reference, I had to take my Gonal-F at 9pm each night (they advise between 8-10pm) and my Astarte on top of that about half an hour later in the opposite side and was getting through 2.5/3litres of water. I hope it picks up for you and you’re just a slow starter like me!
I know, I flew to Spain so I know it can be hard when you’re in a different country. Is there anyway you could stay there and work remotely or take some time off to get through this stage?
I don’t know how far your clinic will go until they stop but mine were confident that most people don’t go past 11 days to be ready. I was 12 days but only just so there is time but it just depends on how you can work around it.
I wish you all the luck in the world. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I’m hoping everybody’s ‘journey’ as they say, ends with a little miracle x
hey. I’ve crap amh so never expected to get many but on our day 6 scan I had 1 dominant and 2 small on my left and none on my right and was told we’d likely be cancelled. They upped the dose and a few days later I had 4 on left and 2 on right.
Hopefully your ovaries will begin to respond. Good luck! ❤️
Hello, I was on meriofert so a different protocol. However on my day 8 scan I only had one follicle measuring at 11mm and 1 that was around 2mm, absolutely devastated thinking it was all over. Three days later at my day 11 scan I had 10 follicles over 10mm, and by egg collection day they retrieved 19 eggs! Even the doctor couldn't believe it.
They kept me on meriofert an extra two days than originally planned seeing as I seemed to just be a slow starter. Some people seem to just respond a lot later, try not to lose all hope ❤️
Thanks ladies. I will keep you posted. Unfortunately, I can't stay here due to work commitments and my miracle son, who happened to be my 1 good embryo after a cancelled cycle, where I ended up flying back and starting all over again a few years back . Looks like I might be making a habit of it.🙄
Just an update:My cycle has been cancelled. Just 4 tiny follicles on day 10. Largest is 8mm. I suspect that being on birth control prior to my cycle may have left my ovaries too sleepy, as before my successful round with my son, I was put on birth control and had the cycle cancelled due to poor response. Then no birth control for my successful round. Will have to fly back in January and start again. They have given me cyclo-progynova instead of bcp and are considering a daily dosage higher than 300 for Gonal F. I can at least take meds home with me and start treatment there.X.
Sorry it didn’t work out this time but Jan isn’t too far away and it’s great you can start at home. I think it sounds like the birth control has a lot to answer for then! I was on Gonal-f 300 and ended up with Astarte too for the last four days so hopefully they can adjust to get you going again.
All the best for your try in Jan, try be positive and good luck x
