Strange month.

So this cycle, we only had sex once on the 22nd October, ovulation day was the 23rd so was in our ovulation week. Period is due tomorrow, 7th Novemeber and since Friday 3rd, Sat 4th, Sunday 5th and today I have had brown blood pinkish a couple of times, back pain and abdo cramps this morning. I tested yesterday but negative. What are people s thoughts, is my period just taking its time to come, sometimes when I go to the toilet there is nothing. Thanks

Hi Cheeky. You might have a bit of an infection, so make sure you drink

plenty of water, and speak to your GP if it continues. If your period doesn’t come, then perhaps do a test to check for pregnancy. Good luck. Diane

Hi DianeArnold , is the spotting a sign of infection? I ask because I've just had 8 days of spotting prior to my period (I usually get spotting for a couple of days before, but this was quite unusual!). I did feel a bit of irritation and some twinges in my uterus coming out of my last cycle (early October) and wondered if I had picked up an infection, but it calmed down after a week to 10 days or so, so I thought whatever it was had passed or was just irritation from the pessaries. Interested in your thoughts!

Hi WillPark. Spotting before a period can sometimes point to your womb lining not building up properly. If you are pregnant then you need to ask whether it is lack of progesterone, or possible infection. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Diane

Thanks Diane - I am definitely not pregnant (chance would be a fine thing!). My period has now arrived and also had a negative test over the weekend. I am given extra progesterone as part of my IVF treatment so that could easily be the problem, since I'm not on any medication this time. Thanks for the wisdom 🙂
