Didn’t even make it to transfer this time 😭. Anyone experienced a poor response cycle but went on to respond well?

Hey everyone

Our 4th cycle (3rd fresh) has just ended abruptly after they only retrieved 1 immature egg and it failed to fertilise. This is the first time we haven’t made it to transfer and to say I feel blind sided is an understatement.

For context we have previously had;

(age 29) Fresh cycle - 10 eggs (I donated 5), x4 of ours fertilised, 2 transferred but BFN

(31) FET - last 2 transferred but BFN

Took a break and life moved on….

(Aged 41, last month) Fresh cycle - 3 eggs, 2 fertilised and transferred. BFP at 9 & 10dp5dt but then BFN at OTD 😒

This month they saw 4 on the screen but only found the x1 which fertilised. I know they say that you can respond differently on different cycles but just wondering if anyone else had had a poor cycle but then had a better cycle afterwards? Realistically we have money for x2 more cycles but seems silly to try again if there’s a good chance we won’t even get to transfer again?

I already felt that our last bfp was our only chance and now even more worried we’ll never get that again 🥺.

Thanks x x

So sorry to hear 😞 it’s so heart breaking. I had 2 poor cycles followed by a good cycle. I changed my protocol, I’ve posted about it and there’s some info in my bio. Wishing you lots of luck for your next rounds xx

Thank you ☺️ it was helpful to see your bio. Sadly we are already on the short protocol and maximum dose so there’s nothing to change it’s just whether my body would respond differently another time 🤷🏽‍♀️

We’ll wait to see what the clinic says but hubby thinks we should stop ✋ x

Long protocol worked much better for me and changing drugs also helped. It’s really difficult to know and sadly it is a gamble 😞 wishing you lots of luck x

So sorry to hear that! Would be worth a couple of consultations to see what they would prescribe differently to try for a more positive outcome. Do you know what your AMH level is? Another option could be to consider donor eggs if you have the money and would be happy to explore that option. X

Thanks honeybee ☺️

Sadly we are already on the short protocol and maximum dose so there’s nothing to change it’s just whether my body would respond differently another time 🤷🏽‍♀️ my AMH is 2 I believe.

Donor eggs isn’t right for us unfortunately, this has always been a quest for us to share a biological child together and hubby doesn’t want to explore anything else x

sorry to read this, yes my daughter responded really bad first round and didn’t have anything to transfer (at that stage we was not even aware that could be an issue) taking lots of supplements resulted in second round with two embryos to freeze, she was still so disappointed as all her levels are “normal” they decided to transfer both and she’s now pregnant with twins x

wonderful to hear your daughter had more success after the initial disappointment 🥰 maybe it’s not ruled us out straight away yet then, thank you x

Hi there! I’ve had a real mixed bag of results from a number of different rounds. Everything from 2 blastocysts, to eggs collected and nothing from them, to a really poor response and not even making it to egg collection!

Our last two collections we got blastocysts though when we changed to natural modified. I have low(ish) AMH at 5.3 and was never getting more than 2 anyway so the lower amount protocol seems kinder to my body.

My last transfer ended in an early miscarriage (or chemical but I don’t like that term) at 5 weeks but we have two more Frosties for two more goes and hoping one of them sticks.

If you want to chat about natural modified just let me know. Sending you lots of love x

Hello x my experience has always been better results with lower doses.

My body is pretty sensitive and higher doses seem to freak my ovaries out.

The highest dose I’ve ever been on was my worst result and it took a while to convince my specialist to lower my meds

You could suggest it and give it a go maybe?

All the best xx
