FET tomorrow 😬

Heyy 🩷 hope you’re all doing well. So after a long journey, 3 failed IUI’s, 3 month break post retrieval due to being very high risk of OHSS, I’m finally in my FET eve 🥹 I have mixed emotions going on, I have a fluttery tummy, probably a combination of nerves and excitement. But I am also massively overthinking the 2WW so I’m opening this post for do’s & don’ts in 2WW and would be so grateful for any advice please. Like I know I can’t bath but can I have a hot shower? That kind of thing.. diet, walking? All of it 😁 TYIA xx

Good luck tomorrow! I have my first FET next week hopefully. When I had my fresh transfer I was told by my clinic just to avoid heavy lifting, strenuous exercise, vacuuming (this was the hardest) and baths. However, I still think I overdid it. This time I'm going to stay home all day, watch TV and just potter about. I'll probably go for a short walk but certainly won't take my dog with me because he pulls on the lead. Oh - and I'd suggest you try to get some of the more strenuous household jobs done today if you don't trust your other half to do them right lol! I'll be changing the bed sheets, cleaning the bathroom and vacuuming top to bottom the night before transfer. No idea if this will actually make a difference but it will give me peace of mind.

It’s like you knew! I’ve spent all day cleaning the house too too bottom, I’ve just eaten a really lovely egg salad and I’m now about to go for an aromatherapy massage (hopefully it’ll be the last one I’m aloud in a while 🤞🏼).

I’m told walking is ok, just not hiking. We’re going to wales on Sunday for a week with the dogs so we’ll go on lots of nice walks. But mainly relaxing!

I’m told that the 2WW is awful so really want to do stuff to distract myself.

Good luck with your FET, it’ll come round really quickly! I can’t believe I’m here, on my FET eve, feels surreal.

Thanks for responding 🥰

hope it all went well!!

Hi Comfortingsoul. Oh I do wish you well now that you’ve settled down. Keep busy and eat pineapple core. Good luck. Diane

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toDianeArnold

Thank you! I’ve heard a lot about pineapple, what are the benefits? Would pineapple juice suffice? x

DianeArnold profile image
DianeArnoldPartnerNurseFertility Network UK in reply toComfortingsoul

Hi. Pineapple core can help to ensure good blood flow and prevent clot formation. Juice is not adequate. Loof for punnets with flat strips of pineapple in as they contain the core on the straight edge. Diane

hi Comfortingsoul, I just wanted to wish you all the best of luck for tomorrow! is this your first transfer? on my first transfer (fresh), the consultant recommended to carry on living as normal, his argument was that people who conceived naturally wouldn't even realise at this stage about it and would just keep going as normal... I'm quite active and they said I could go back to running like 4 days after, tbh I never found the courage, I did loads of walking instead. I found walking really helpful specially when i started to feel anxious during the 2ww. The only advice they gave was no baths (or sauna, jacuzzi etc, that could raise your body temperature), and no strenuous exercise. Don't try anything new that your body wouldn't recognise.

The obvious ones are sleep and eat well, and drink plenty of water. The urban myths which I of course tried were eating pineapple ( my tummy got bloated) , and I had chips on the transfer day with lots of salt!!. The most important thing is be kind to yourself, take one day at a time and don't try to symptom spotting because the progesterone gives you a lot of the symptoms 😂. Hopefully you can keep yourself from testing until OTD but that's personal choice xx. Forgot to mention, I kept working as normal as it helped me as distraction on the 2ww , again that's really personal choice. If it all gets too much the nurses or GP can sign you off xx

I hope everything goes perfectly for you!!

Thank you for such a lovely response 🥰 I enjoyed reading that. Yes this is my first transfer, I had a freeze all due to the risk of overstimulating. We’re going to wales on Sunday so we’ll be out walking for a couple of hours a day, hoping that’s okay! I’m out with my dogs everyday so my body is used to walks! Other than that, I’ll be relaxing and eating nice food 😋

I’ll deffo be having the fries because why not?! 😂 and I have lots of Pom juice stocked up, il try the pineapple but I can get bloated from pretty much anything and my tums sensitive too so will have to be mindful of that. I’m opting for an anti inflammatory diet!

I’ve taken the time off work too as I have a very heavy and demanding job, I don’t want to risk the stress, I’m being selfish for once 😁

where are you at in the process? If you don’t mind me asking ☺️ xx

Hopewhite in reply toComfortingsoul

hi happy to share, hopefully everything will go very well tomorrow, you'll be so surprised on how quickly it all gets done, I think our transfer took like 15 min in total, I thought they'd keep me in there for half an hour resting or something, but they just said "you can leave now", and explained about keeping normal life, so I walked back home from the hospital (live like under 1 mile away). Sounds like you're very well prepared already, fingers crossed it will all work out for you, just try and relax and enjoy the journey!

I'm a couple of weeks behind you, I had started oestrogen this Monday, hopefully if everything goes well FET will be 1st of November. Our first transfer sadly ended as MMC at the viability scan, so we have bounced back and about to try our luck again!

sorry forgot to add walking is perfectly fine, but just see how you feel, listen to your body and get a little break to rest if needed x

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toHopewhite

I am so sorry about that and I hope you’ve found the time to heal as much as it’s possible. I wish you all the luck in the world for your second try 🫶🏼

I’m not sure if I’ll ever be fully prepared, just absolutely terrified of the 2WW and the test day makes me feel sick.

One day at a time. Thanks again, so much. Hopefully speak again soon x

Thank you for the good wishes, I don't think anyone will ever be ready , so just do your best and take 1 day at time, try to take on a new hobby, a new book, a new netflix, some nice plans , etc. whatever helps to distract your mind from it xx

hopefully it will go very quickly, i think my clinic OTD was 12 days after, so it's not quite 2 weeks. I did get up ridiculous am on OTD and did the test haha

best wishes for tomorrow, let us know how it goes! xx

hoping it all goes well for you, things tired and worked … beetroot, ginger and melon smoothies …. (Literally cut it all up and put in a Ninja bullet to blitz it. Hot homemade soup everyday, 30min walk and just chilling as much as possible. Also acupuncture x

Hello! How exciting and nervewracking! I had a frozen embryo transfer and it’s successful so far. I’m 13 +3. I rested for about 3 days after my transfer and ate loads of fruit and veg. I drank a shed load of water to stay hydrated. Made sure I moved about to get blood flowing nothing too strenuous, just walking. Got plenty of sleep. I also completely avoided stress. And I drank a glass of beetroot juice every morning. I had a 6 day embryo transferred and I knew I was pregnant from two days after. Don’t test til your proper day tho!

I had pre-made meals so I didn’t have to worry about making dinner.

I had my little snacks and drinks and books and things next to the bed for when I first got home. I thought I’d be in bed longer but I figured you need to get some blood flowing. But I was grateful for the snacks and drinks so I wasn’t moidering husband.

I had bad cramps after transfer so if you get those don’t panic too much xxx I had blood on the day my period should have been too but it was break through bleeding and I haven’t bled since xx

Keep your tummy warm but not too hot. Don’t do anything strenuous. Don’t lift things.

Good luck! Rooting for you! Just be really kind to yourself. I didn’t even interact on social media or anything, I just got in my ivf zone.

Oh and you can have a shower but not too hot. I think I was told not to have a bath.

Hope it works out for you xx

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toCazzyM

Aww congratulations that’s really lovely! I’m so pleased for you! Was that your first transfer? How did you know you were pregnant after 2 days? Thank you for all of that advice, I have started a list of do’s and don’ts 🫶🏼 xx

CazzyM profile image
CazzyM in reply toComfortingsoul

I just knew. I started feeling sick and I was so tired I felt like I’d been drugged or something. Plus my sense of smell went weird. I did wait a few more days before I tested but then I was anxious on test day it wouldn’t have stuck. So I’d say wait for proper test day (even tho I didn’t)

Yes it was my first go. We had pgta done too.

It’s been super stressful but at the moment it seems to be going ok xxx

Just go with what you think. I was just so terrified of doing something that might ruin things I was super careful for first two weeks and then I slowly got back to my usual pattern like running and gym. Just listen to your body xxx

Hope it all goes well!

Best of luck today! I’m 9dp5dt. TWW is brutal so stay busy, but nicely busy, relaxed and rested. We’ve had lots of walks, but no other exercise, no hot baths but I take my showers pretty hot so hoping that’s fine, no one said otherwise.

Fingers crossed for you x

How are you feeling? I was also a 3 cancelled IUI rounds before moving to IVF, I had many many eggs collected so we took an extended break (9m) and this is our first FeT attempt.. wearily days but we got a positive.

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toJaiLw86

Omg I absolutely love that for you 👏🏼🥰 congrats! I could genuinely cry for you! I'm so emotional! Very mixed! Scared and excited. 4dp5dt today. Did you hold out until OTD? Sounds like we have had similar experiences, we got lots of eggies too (up side to PCOS I suppose!). I want to test because I want to know but I know it's best to wait! I'm so happy for you 🥰 xx

JaiLw86 profile image
JaiLw86 in reply toComfortingsoul

I couldn’t wait,, I just needed to know something was or wasn’t happening … I started testing maybe 4 or 5 days after the transfer as that’s when others seemed to get some faint positives but they were negative (little HcG test strips) on day 7 I tried a clearblue and it was a faint positive, I then got super worried it was an evap line lol (you can’t win) I spent the next few days worrying as I had positives on clearblue and no or super super faint line on the pink tests /FReR that people talk about.. my official test date was yesterday and they were all positive so there is method in the madness to wait but it’s certainly easier said than done! Heading to clinic later today to get blood test and official confirmation.

Sending lots of good vibes your way and hoping baby is cooking nicely!! Xx

I am also having my first FET today! Feeling nervous and excited. I had a cancelled FET last month because of fluid in my uterus, so I’m very glad it’s going ahead this time. I did a good deep clean yesterday, wish I’d thought about the massage!

Has anyone been given advice about sleeping positions? Does it make any difference? I know during later pregnancy you need to sleep on your side, but wondering if it makes any difference in the early stages?

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toPeachnfjs

aww how lovely, there are a few of us that went in today 🫶🏼 hope it went well. I found the full bladder really tough 🤣 it made me feel sick! I was also very scared of peeing on the bed 🤣 I’ve thought the same but I think if any positions were going to be a problem, we’d have been told about it! Did you ask today? xx

Peachnfjs profile image
Peachnfjs in reply toComfortingsoul

Yes me too I was worried about the full bladder! And I completely forgot to ask about the sleeping positions with all the excitement of the day. I think you’re right though I’m sure it’s fine.

I felt so weird leaving the clinic though, felt like I wanted to wrap myself up in bubble wrap and was clenching my bum cheeks for some reason thinking that was going to help…!! But I’ve taken it easy at home today and feeling more normal now. Injecting myself this evening did feel odd though, again I think just wanting to protect my body felt weird to be sticking needles in it. Good luck with everything, let’s hope the next two weeks fly by x

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toPeachnfjs

It has been a very weird day! Analysing every feeling, I've felt a bit sick tbh but I think it was the aftermath of feeling sooo anxious leading up to it! I'm not on any injections now, just estrogen tabs and progesterone pessaries. I wonder what makes them decide how they're going to treat individuals. Anyway, good luck, take good care xx

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toPeachnfjs

How are you feeling? X

Peachnfjs profile image
Peachnfjs in reply toComfortingsoul

That’s so strange I was just picking up my phone to see if anyone had given any updates! I’m feeling a bit weird. The first couple of days I felt like I could sense things happening, I was being very careful with my body because it felt quite fragile. But now, while I feel tired still, i also feel a bit more normal, which is making me worried it hasn’t worked. I’m not sure if that was just my body recovering from the procedure itself, and that we shouldn’t really expect to ‘feel’ anything happening at this stage. How are you doing?

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toPeachnfjs

Exactly the same as you! Felt quite symptomatic first couple of days but much more normal now apart from a feeling like stitch in my right ovary area! Very tempted to test but I don't want to get a false negative because it's too early and then it shift my mindset into negative thinking because I'm all about positive vibrations! This is so tough isn't it! So where are we 4dpt? Or would today be classed as day 5? X

Peachnfjs profile image
Peachnfjs in reply toComfortingsoul

oh that’s good to hear that you’ve been experiencing similar! Maybe that’s just the norm. I guess at this stage everything is so early that you’d be unlikely to be having symptoms, we’re just so hyper aware because of everything we’re doing. I get confused about the days! But I know day 12 is Tuesday 31st - my clinic has started doing a blood test on day 12 to see if you’re pregnant, rather than doing an at home test day 14. So I’m going to wait to then. I feel like doing earlier tests would just make me more anxious, but I can see how it’s tempting!

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toPeachnfjs

Oh that's interesting! I've been given a test to do on 31st (if I last until then - I'll really try!). Will they give you same day results from your bloods? Praying for you 🤞🏼 x

Peachnfjs profile image
Peachnfjs in reply toComfortingsoul

Yes it will be same day but will take a few hours, so planning lots of things to keep me busy 😬 the best of luck to you too ❤️❤️❤️

Peachnfjs profile image
Peachnfjs in reply toComfortingsoul

How are you doing? Have you resisted temptation to test?

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toPeachnfjs

I’m struggling 😭 had a bit of a breakdown yesterday but I think that was a build up of all the emotions felt through the whole process and the absolute torture of having to wait to test. I’ve still held out but only because my partner is adamant it’s the best thing to do. He’s probably right!

Thanks for asking! How are you doing? X

Peachnfjs profile image
Peachnfjs in reply toComfortingsoul

I felt really low today, convinced myself it hasn’t worked because I’ve not been feeling symptoms and just felt a bit depressed about it all. But I did a lot of reading and saw some posts on here about people having lots of symptoms then none, starting off with sore boobs then feeling completely fine etc but still getting positive test. So I’m telling myself to just keep trucking on. But it’s hard! Hard to balance the mix of emotions. I’ve been feeling so unmotivated to do anything, took me about 6 hours to build myself up to take the dog for a walk today!

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toPeachnfjs

I’m not feeling anything really, the only thing I’ve consistently felt is a lower abdominal very slight ache/occasional stitch and that’s not gone away. I know the feeling though - i have really good moments where I feel excited like I feel like it’s worked but then I have really low moments too. I’m starting to feel sicky anxious too now which I hate. Not long to wait now. Really hoping for you, keep me posted x

Peachnfjs profile image
Peachnfjs in reply toComfortingsoul

How did it go for you? I tested negative unfortunately, although in my gut I knew it hadn’t worked so it wasn’t a huge shock. Gathering myself to go again next month x

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toPeachnfjs

I’m so sorry about that lovely. I hope you’ve got good support around you. I tested negative too. I feel so deflated and defeated and massively exhausted by it all. Glad to be stopping the meds even if just for a short while though. Have an appt booked with the consultant 13th to discuss options but hopefully won’t have to wait long. He was talking about a double transfer for second round. I was told yesterday that it’s really unlikely for a transfer to work first time xx

Doodlebug23 profile image
Doodlebug23

Hi, I had my transfer (4th) on Monday. This time I have gone all out with do’s and don’ts including old wives tales! Yellow and pineapple are fertility and IVF signs so I wore yellow and socks with a pineapple on! Turtles too so I watched TMNT yesterday 😂

I’ve been eating pineapple, beetroot, whole grains (bread, cereal), Brazil nuts, leafy greens, cut out red meat, no processed food, cut down white rice and purists (sweet potato is good) check egg and milk is pasteurised - a lot of Parmesan cheese isn’t and salad dressing has raw unpasteurised egg in some. I went straight to Maccies after transfer for salty fries!

Personally I wouldn’t recommend 2hrs walking. I read somewhere 20 mins a day and max 150 mins a week. Don’t lift heavy things (like the dog, shopping bags), keep feet warm (warm uterus). I’m trying to chill on the sofa after a lay in and get up and move around every once in a while to get blood flowing. I’ve taken more time away from work this time, though I’m back tomorrow but if it stresses me out I’m just going off sick! I’m PUPO now so apparently protected.

I’m also letting myself daydream about a BFP and all that follows. The laws of manifestation and the universe. I also read laughter is good for blood flow!

Hope all goes well and good luck!!! X

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toDoodlebug23

TMNT 🤣🤣 why the hell not! Soo you’re nearly half way through the wait 🤞🏼 sending you lots of luck! My nurse said 2 hour walks are okay for me as I’m already used to walking my dogs twice a day so my body won’t be shocked by it 🥰 the rest of the time away will be good food and lots of relaxing! Absolutely agree with manifesting and visualising, I meditate when I have my acupuncture and then often visualise seeing our baby on the scan xx

Doodlebug23 profile image
Doodlebug23 in reply toComfortingsoul

Cowabunga!! 😂 Not really thought about it which I guess is a good thing! I think travelling back the next day, then completely lazy tv day yesterday has helped. Also reading posts on here and commenting and messaging is a good distraction whilst still being all about tue one thing that’s really on my mind!

I imagine it all the time but just cannot believe it will actually happen! X

I just had my third transfer. I was told no heavy lifting, baths or sauna, no intercourse, but to try and carry on as usual but try to take it easy! I stayed at home the whole time, worked, pottered about, I did Hoover occasionally if a room needed it, watched movies, read, ate nutritious meals, napped, walked around the house and kept warm, and got a positive result yesterday. Just waiting on beta results. Good luck to you it is a long 2 weeks! I was crying the day before test day as I was convinced it hadn’t worked as I was experiencing the same symptoms as the last two transfers. The meds really trick you from one day to the next. Xx

Comfortingsoul profile image
Comfortingsoul in reply toYellowlove

Aww amazing 🙌🏼🥰 congrats! Did you wait for test day? xx

Yellowlove profile image
Yellowlove in reply toComfortingsoul

Yes, I had taken a HCG shot around time of transfer (apparently it tricks the body into thinking you’re already pregnant and helps implantation) so testing early would have got a false positive anyway. Also I’m def not an early tester, I put difficult things off as much as possible 😩😂. Very best of luck to you! xxx
