Levothyroxine and Longer Menstrual Bleeds/Periods

So far as I have been increasing my dose (still optimising dose) my periods length have stayed the same around 5/6 ish days. The cycle itself has varied since starting levothyroxine by an about a few days (from a 26 day cycle prediagnosis and treatment to 26-31 days since diagnosis and treatment).

However, this time I have had a period (albeit light) for 2 weeks and counting which coincides with my latest dose increase (75mcg 1 day followed by 100mcg the next day following this alternating pattern).

Everything I have read from others experiences suggests periods stop, or become irregular (which to me means a longer cycle).

So, my question is this: is having longer periods normal? If not, any suggestions?

I’m trying not to worry so I’d be grateful if anyone can share their knowledge on this.

The whole reason I started this medication/hormone was to conceive and carry the term. With my periods like this it’s seems counterintuitive!

Hello! I've been on Levothyroxine for my under active thyroid for 6 years and every time I think there might be something wrong with my dose, I do a blood test (TSH, T4, T3+antibodies). I've never had it affect my period, but too high/ too low dose has given me a range of symptoms, so I believe anything can go. If my GP doesn't want to give me a referral, I do one from Randox, it's the cheapest I think. Those levels can fluctuate depending on how well you are absorbing your doses and I personally found it really useful to get a definite answer whether my symptoms can be linked. It's super important to do the test first thing in the morning before you have taken your tablet, so it gives you the 'real' reading. Hope this helps!

My TSH levels were fluctuating over the last few years so my IVF clinic put me on 75mcg per day - I have not found that this has affected my period at all and TSH levels are now stable x.
