EMMA and ALICE test

Hi everyone,

After taking a break following an unsuccessful cycle, I will be having EMMA and ALICE tests in 2 weeks.

My clinic have advised not to have unprotected sex prior to the tests but unfortunately this has already happened after my period ended.

Does anyone know do they recommend this in case we might fall pregnant naturally (if only) or does it somehow affect the tests?

Obviously we will be abstaining between now and the tests, but I also don’t want to waste time doing the test if the outcome might be affected…

I know I should just be honest with the clinic but I’m currently fighting with my irrational brain and not wanting to delay the tests…so any insight that any of you might have on this would be helpful…

Hello, wishing you well with the tests. I 100% understand the desire to push on quickly with more tests and transfers as quickly as possible.

I haven’t had those biopys but I’ve had similar tests (Coventry biopsy and hystoscopy) and been told it’s more to do with the risk of it interfering with a pregnancy rather than it affecting the results. Although from what I understood the risk was very low anyway. It’s so frustrating that for so many of these tests we can’t try naturally.

It’s probably best to tell your clinic, as at least that way your mind would be at ease that you’ve made the most of the test.
