Buying Pergoveris in London

Hi. I’m in the middle of my stims phase.

I bought my Pergoveris from Asda. They gave me 900iu in a pen - but then the rest in separate 150iu vials that I need to mix.

I’ve been slightly screwed, as my clinic has just decreased my dosage to 100iu - so I can’t use the 150iu vials (that’s almost £400 down the drain).

I urgently need to get hold of another pen, but my clinic’s pharmacy charges double the price of Asda (it’s obscene).

I don’t suppose anyone knows of any pharmacies in London that will have a Pergoveris pen *in stock* - and doesn’t charge the earth?

Thanks so much x

That is very frustrating. Is there no way you could mix up two vials and use over three injections?

Thanks KM7 and IVF42. Yep, I have lots of syringes, needles and drawing-up needles at home. Hmmm…am I being really dim? So I mix the 150iu powder and solution - but only draw up 100iu into the syringe? (I’d have to ask the nurse how to calculate the exact amount…I really don’t want to mess it up…this is my last roll of the dice with my own eggs). Is it really that simple? x

I’ve not used those meds before - does the mixture keep in the fridge once it’s made up? If so, you could make up two lots to 300, see how much that fills a syringe and then give yourself one third of that total amount each day. I’d think that would work in terms of getting the right amount. That’s what I’d do anyway.

Thanks so much for your advice. Pergoveris comes in a 900iu pen or 300iu pen - or in 150iu vials that you need to mix yourself. Annoyingly, Asda didn’t have any 300iu pens - so they gave me four 150iu vials.

The pen needs to be refrigerated before you use it for the first time, but can then be left out at room temperature. The 150iu vials didn’t need to be refrigerated when I brought them home.

Once you’ve mixed the solution yourself, I’m not sure if it all has to be used right away (I think that’s the case with Meriofert) - or whether you can store it in the fridge (at least for 24 hours)?

I’m really scared of messing it up. Although I’m not particularly keen to flush £400 down the toilet and spend a fortune at my clinic’s pharmacy. Sigh.

Check the leaflet that comes with the medicine, as it should tell you how it needs to be stored and whether it came be kept after being made up or needs to be used straight away.

Thanks. I checked the leaflet last night, and it says that the medication needs to be used as soon as it is reconstituted (mixed). But maybe I can mix one 150iu vial per day, and only use 100iu. Just want to make sure I get it 100% right - definitely no room for error on this!

Oh that’s annoying, but yes that is what I would do! Would be a shame to waste the money.

First, please note, I have no experience of this medication and I am not a pharmacist.I found this on line medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...

I realise it doesn't solve your problem, but it is reliable information.

I'm told Ali's does fertility meds but may be expensive.

Crikey, you really don't need this stress on top. I'd just do what others have said. Mix the 150iu up and use 2/3 of it. If you have a syringe that shows 100iu, then you just extract that amount use it and throw the 50iu away. That's what I did on one of my rounds. Good luck and try not to worry. Sounds like you are responding well to stims.
