Hi there-- im in a tough spot. AT 7 WEEKS - one pregnancy in uterus. doing ok at CRL 6mm and heart rate 120/min but second is an empty sac only with no fetal pole but it is in the interstitium of uterus. (as i have no tube on that side--so maybe it did try to go there) - drs feel that if this grows then they may need to operate to remove it but second baby stands to be at risk then.

i am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping this empyty sac resolves like yours did.

any views? does tis happen often. 9the empty sac is small for 7 weeks though-- about 1cm in size.

any thoughts are welcome pls.

very anxious.

Hi Harley, congratulations on your pregnancy and I'm sorry for the obvious mixed feelings this must bring up for you. To be honest I'm a little surprised the doctor is talking about surgical intervention when the other sac is empty and quite small. I was exactly the same although my second sac had a fetal pole but no heartbeat so they thought baby had grown to about 5.5 weeks and even then they said the two most likely options were reabsorption or a bit of bleeding, neither of which would impact the other pregnancy.

Is there another reason they thought it might not resolve?

Are you going in for another scan in a week or two to check?

they basically said that because it’s an interstitial pregnancy ( which means in wall of uterus partly ) then it could rupture if it continues to grow even as an empty sac . This could lead to uterine rupture , hence they said we may need to operate if it continues to increase in size .

I’m hoping this resolves and the save just d disappears but I don’t know if that’s a common occurance in empty sacs that are in the interstitium .

I’m just having a scan today to see if the size has changed at all . Worried

so the scan shows it increased in size but it’s an irregular snap which is not a good sign . So I hope it does collapse and not increase properly .

I am thinking of having an mri scan just to see if this really is on the interstitium or high I’m finding cos the extra puns is not showing it clear . Might as well do that and he sure cos then if it’s not in interstitium then not so much to worry about

Hi Harley1977,Not exactly the same situation but close I think. I had 2 embrios transfered and 2 separate sacks and 2 heart beats at week 6. At week 8 only one heart beat (my daughter who is now 2,5) and the other embrio stopped growing around week 7. It was visible on all scans until week 16-18 I think and then the baby was too big so you couldn't see the other sack. Not to say that it wasn't there. I didn't have any procedure, I had a tiny bleeding around week 10-11 - not even sure if this was related to the other embrios. There was no concerns around other sacs at all. My baby girl was born at week 37 (full term),zero issues during the pregnancy. Well... besides my continues anxiety but this is a part of every IVF struggle. Best of luck 👍
