Waiting for my 7week scan and feeling anxious

I am 6weeks +2 today, and have started spotting over the last couple of days. Some days it looks like coffee grounds and others it's more like a brown discharge (sorry if TMI). It only usually lasts an hour or two. I don't have any cramping or pain to speak of just the very occasional twinge, but I could certainly do without the nausea and feeling of travel sickness (although I'm told this is a good sign!!) I have my 7 week scan booked for 4th July (next Tuesday). I guess what I'm wondering is, if this is normal and whether I just need to try and relax?

Thank you

Hi, I had this at 5 weeks then again at 7 weeks. Lasted for about 5 days. Coffee grounds and brown when wiping. I was very freaked out but everything was fine. Clinic put the 5 week one down to implantation and 7 week one to pessary irritation. Brown is old blood. I hope everything goes okay at the scan! X

Thank you, that actually makes perfect sense! I did ring the clinic and have been reassured that I've not told them anything they are worried about! So just got to wait until next Tuesday! x

Hi Crochet_queen. Not long to wait for your scan, which hopefully will be perfect. It might be worth speaking to your GP just in case you have a bit of an infection. Dark red and brown blood is usually from old blood so is less of a worry. Drink plenty of water if too. Good luck. Diane -Partner

hi I hope you're well. From what I've heard the spotting can be fully normal (better to double check with your clinic for reassurance), nausea is a good sign xx

only if you see actual fresh blood could be something more serious and the clinic or early pregnancy unit should offer an earlier scan to check you, and even in these cases it could be nothing to worry about e.g. a hematoma. I had this surprise at 6 weeks, many people wrote to me saying they've continued healthy pregnancies after that scare! I've my viability scan tomorrow, and I fully understand that you're worrying about this, there are so many changes internally that is hard to judge what's normal and what isn't, but from what you are describing i think you can relax, hopefully it's just due to some stretching inside xx

I hope everything goes smoothly on your scan day, all the best of luck in your pregnancy journey xx

Thanks lovely, It is indeed! I've found this wait much harder than the 2ww! I'm afraid we need to get used to it as next one would be the 12 w scan which is far away! we can only hope for the best, hopefully everything will continue to develop perfectly ! xx

With my little boy I had spotting at 6 weeks and again at 10 weeks, mine was a mixture of red and brown (very scary after 3 MC). I rang the clinc to tell them and they asked us to come in for an early scan and then they did another one a week later, that was great for putting our minds at rest.

Wishing you all the luck xx
