Do’s and don’ts before and after FET

Hi

I have been reading a lot around what to do and not to do before and after FET. Would like to learn about what people did do and not do.

Things I should avoid after FET is hot baths, strenuous physical activities, caffeine and alcohol.

Hi Sabrina.

I had a good number of transfers with high quality eggs where I had time off work, no exercise, no alcohol or caffeine, rested up for days after and each transfer failed. The Dr blamed chromosome abnormalities every time.

My final go….I decided to take the advice with a pinch of salt, went straight out shopping after the transfer. Did exercise but low impact, didn’t have time off work. End result….6 weeks off having my bundle of joy.

I echo what positive 20 has said here and have a very similar story where I just lived a normal life and just relaxed and that’s when it worked 🙌🏼 stick to what your clinic say are ‘must dos’ and then do what’s best for you! The transfer that worked I was still getting my 10k steps in a day I just changed to a bit flatter walks and cut out alcohol and did nice things and that’s literally the only changes I made! I had been in a crazy spiral at times of trying all the nonesense in ‘it starts with an egg’ worrying about my shampoo and all sorts! But none of that made a difference so I honestly think the change in my mental state helped ….I’m just trying to achieve that again for a sibling and I know it’s easier said than done! Xxx

I wish you all the best with the sibling. Not easy at all. Thank you for replying, hearing from people is always very helpful as it’s not easy to talk to others not going through the same thing.

Thanks for sharing your story, at times I feel like I get caught into that crazy spiral of worrying about products or that I ate something etc and hearing success stories where people continued to lead normalish lives makes me feel better - thank you x

No perfume to be worn on the day and no nail polish I think. I’ve been told after each transfer, fresh and frozen, to consider your self PUPO (pregnant until proven otherwise), so no shellfish, no hot baths, no hot water bottles, be mindful of shower temperature, no swimming, make sure food is well cooked etc. I always take the day off and the next few days off and try and chill but apparently there’s no evidence that this helps, I think it really is all about the embryo. Best of luck x

Hi Sabrina2023,

I’m not sure if you enjoy podcasts but there’s one I’ve been listening to called “Knocked Up: the podcast about fertility and women’s health” by a Fertility Specialist. There’s some good advice on there about preparing for pregnancy. She basically says to go about your normal daily activities post transfer. I think it’s personal though- I’ve done a combination of doing normal activities but in a relaxed way, haha.

All the best ☺️

Plan some fun things to distract yourself! We did things like go to the seaside and for walks. Don't overdo it, but I went on a couple of 4-5 mile walks during the 2WW. Now 23 weeks pregnant.
