Travel insurance

Hi all. I'm having treatment in Spain and due to have a hysteroscopy at the end of the month. They're doing it under general so they can operate on anything they find. I've only ever had transfers before so haven't taken out specific medical travel insurance. Just wondering if anyone has done this and what do you need for specific cover? If anyone has recommendations I'd appreciate a DM. Thanks ❤️

Hey, I used travel shield when I was having a hysterscopy under GA which was a reasonable price. I didn't use proper insurance for "normal" transfers.xxx

Thank you. I'll have a look. Its not something that really occurred to me before but with the GA I thought I need to. x

I think there is only one company that does travel insurance for ivf abroad. I called a lot because in my mind a transfer wasn’t that big a medical procedure in terms of risk to my health and I thought it would be covered in a normal policy ( I normally get annual travel insurance) Apparently for insurers it is (perhaps they do not understand Ivf very well) and standard insurance policies will not cover you, in fact I was told if I intentionally travelled for ivf, even just blood tests, (which is frankly ridiculous) a standard policy would be void. Annoying if you want to make the most of going abroad and have a small holiday first then have the transfer when you are nicely relaxed you need this special insurance and it is more expensive per day than standard holiday insurance. Googling it is misleading. Of all the ones that came up only one was actually for ivf. It works out about £45 for a three day trip for me. Not cheap but is anything on this journey! I just swallow it and pay because I don’t need anything else playing on my mind and worrying me when I’m preparing for a cycle.

If anyone knows of more than one company please also Dm me! I spent a fair while trying to find more than the one with no luck!

Thank you. I've only been able to find one and my usual insurance (annual cover) told me the same as yours- its void for both my husband and I for anything to do with IVF. Not ideal but I've got the 3 days covered for 2 of us for about £50 and the 11 days for £150. The costs with this are never ending aren't they.
