Types of FET.

I’ve just had a FET and it’s unfortunately a BFN.

I’m hoping someone on here can clear up my confusion on different types of FET as I see people on here talk about medicated/natural and down regulating..

The different types of FET confuse me but I think i had a medicated cycle..

For this FET I had following medication..

For 7 days from period I had Oestriadol x3 a day and Fryedamol injection..

then from day 8 the Oestriadol went up to 4 a day..

Then pogesterone pessaries x2 from day 13 and then from transfer on day 18 I had Lubion x1 per day as my levels were low.

Was wondering if a natural FET would work better? Would that be monitoring my own cycle and testing ovulation.. with no meds until I start the pessaries/Lubion after the transfer?

Plan on ringing the clinic tomorrow as that’s my official OTD but want it clear in my head as hoping to try get a FET organised for this next cycle.

Heya. Yes, you had a medicated cycle :)

A natural cycle means you monitor ovulation as you say, then take some progesterone after ovulation till transfer.

A modified natural cycle means you monitor for the LH surge, but then before ovulation you trigger ovulation with a mild hcg injection.

It’s worth a try! I discovered (after a few failed medicated FETs) that my lining was much better during a natural cycle 😊 x

Thank you.. that makes it much more clearer.... all the meds this time were just so full on trying to remember to take the tablets and I felt a lot worse this round (bloating etc) compared to when I had the egg collection/fresh transfer!

Think I’m definitely going to ask my clinic if I can do natural and see if they recommend the trigger injection etc.. I suppose if they scan me and they don’t think it’s working they’ll tell me before they start defrosting one of my embryos and go back to medicated the next cycle.

Hi Kt. The medicated one is to control and support lining. The natural works with your cycle and is put back just after you ovulate. Need protected sex, then progesterone usually afterwards. Good luck. Diane

Thank you. I’ve spoke to my clinic and If I want to change to natural I have to have a review meeting with Dr which would delay it by a few months.. so frustrating as the process is long enough already!
