Transfer day advice

I have my next transfer next week, and I was wondering if any of you have any tip from your clinics.

On my previous transfer I went back to work, I don't know if I should take the day off....they kept saying to take the day easy..... but I find that really vague....

So just wonder if anybody receive any good tip😉

Thanks xxx

Hello! I only just had my transfer last week in the afternoon and I decided to take the afternoon of the transfer as well as the next day off work. This really helped me to not feel stressed because my work has a habit of throwing up last minute, always urgent requests and I definitely wanted to avoid those scenarios. If I had been able to, I would have considered taking the whole implantation period off work just for peace of mind but this was not entirely possible for me so I had a mix of work and days off which actually also worked pretty well. Definitely put yourself first in the first few days after transfer. I was advised to keep moderately active to keep the blood flowing but to avoid anything strenuous or stressful. If you are able to, go for some walks, treat yourself to something you enjoy doing or just relax on the sofa without a guilty conscience 😊 Best of luck for your transfer! X

I might take the day and maybe the next...I cannot take the 2 weeks, and I feel that will be too much. But I like the idea of not rushing to go back to work and being able to go for a couple of walks

I would take the afternoon and next day if you can. I always found the phone call the next day very hard so was good not to be at work.

I had a leisurely lunch and then went back to work for my last transfer. I think I’ve worked after all of them except the first.

Worst thing I did was take a fortnight off in my first Ivf cycle as I had nothing to occupy me!!

It’s a good excuse to have a little time to relax though. Esp if you have a stressful or active job?

Best of luck!

My favourite thing to do is take a mini break/holiday with my husband during the 2ww. It's distracting and also increases the likelihood of walks and less stress. I'd normally try and go between around 3dpt and 7dpt X

Good luck 💕💕💕💕

heya. I think it depends a lot on your job…. I’ve had transfers when I went back to work (I have a desk job, so nothing physical) but I prefer to take the day off, and if at all possible the day after is nice too. Not because work would cause any problems - but because it’s nice to be able to take it easy, rest, watch something that makes you laugh.

But I wouldn’t take the whole 2WW off - I think I’d go mental, work is a good distraction 😀

As for other advice, I don’t think there much you can do, for better or worse, to affect the outcome. Eat sensibly , keep moving but take it easy, try and live life as normal as you can . Good luck ☺️🤞

I have had a fair few few and I usually take a few hours for something to eat (mcds French fries 🍟 involved 🤣) then go back to work. The one that worked for us we did go on a wee mini break a few days after transfer to the highlands with lots of nice walks sightseeing (weather was lovely) and meals and also the day after transfer that time I took the dog a big long (flat no hills) walk that really had me chilled with happy hormones too 🤗 I do t do well with time off during 2Ww where I do t have a holiday etc though drives me 🤪 clinic has always just told me to relax, act like I’m pregnant with foods etc but no need to rest/lie down and keep the blood flowing to uterus with gentle walks etc. good luck for next week 🤗 xx

I have to admit that I have done the French fries in the past 😂I will for sure go for some walks

Hey, I took the day off and watched a funny film to keep things light then a short stroll but not my usual hike with the dog🤣. Good luck!

Hey, I only took the transfer day off. And everything was fine. I avoided lifting any heavy things and also not trying to bend too much. All th3 best. xx

Hello, I always take 3-4 days off. It really helps keeping me calm as my job is quite stressful. I think it truly depends re type of work and your personality. I find myself calmer at home and less stressed.

Best advice I have is to relax, take it easy over the next 2 weeks, Go for walks, but no exercise or swimming, no hot baths. No lifting, and no caffeine or alcohol which can be difficult ! This was all advice from my clinic when I went for transfer (my clinic was in Spain as I had used donor eggs), so I took time off work for a few days and it felt right for me xx good luck xxx
