day 3 transfer

hey lovlies, gearing up for a hopeful day 3 transfer tomorrow, if the clinic calls today with good news that my embryos have survived another night. Background - 8 eggs collected on Friday, embryologist called yesterday saying only 2 had fertilised overnight . So worried not going to get anything for day 3 to transfer. Much poorer round so far than my previous, this journey is so tough, an emotional rollercoaster! Any success stories of day 3 transfers / low fertilisation rates? Need my hopes to rise as feeling pretty low today 😔 xx

On my successful round out of 10 eggs only one fertilised normally. I’ve had other rounds before and since with more embryos but no success. It’s so hard to know when it’ll work but it can work with just one, as cliched as it sounds!

So good to hear, and congrats! You’ve given me hope! The call from the clinic today said both developing well, one is a great grade, the other a slightly poorer grade but still in the running. So transfer booked for 10am tomorrow 🤞 thanks again for sharing your story! x

Hi yes I now have a beautiful 15month old after a double day 3 transfer. Our doctor said that yes day 5 is best but in some cases they work best back in the environment they belong sooner.x

Really great to hear and congrats! I’m considering doing a double tomorrow if the clinic would allow. Is there anything specifically that swayed you towards doing a double? x

Were you concerned about the risk of twins? I'll be 43 and looking at a fresh transfer this time on either day 3 or 5. And no PGTA x

No we would have been delighted with whatever we were blessed with.x

ah - there's 2 of you. I'm solo and have zero other support, which is why I'm worrying! x

Hi MiniCeeCee I'm waiting to test this week to see if my 3 day x 2 embryo transfer has worked. I'm 38yrs and on my second ICSI cycle. It's Soo hard 😔 I hope it works xx

1st cycle I only had 1 early blastocyst put back so this time they have tried something different. I don't think my embryos like the lab culture they don't seem to do well towards the end. I was told by the embryologist that sometimes they do better when put back in our bodies. Hoping it works xx good luck for tomorrow xx

Hi, just cane across your post and was so lovely to see a familiar name pop up. Just want to wish you all the best for tomorrow. Double or single whatever you decide. Everything crossed that this is your time.

And day 3 or 5 it only takes one xx

🤞🏽❤️

So lovely to see familiar names, even if I’d rather we weren’t here on this forum 🙈 hope you’re doing well, and thank you! Xx

I agree, but it’s so nice to have others to talk to and support you. I still get alerts but they don’t seem to be as often for some reason. But always glad when it’s someone familiar as still got everything crossed that everyone gets their happy ending. Let me know how you get on. I’ll be thinking of you xx

Only 3 eggs collected from 6 follicles, the worst round for me numbers-wise. Only one fertilised but became my little boy 🩵 good luck. 🍀🍀

Good luck with your transfer. 4 failed fresh transfers and 1 successful frozen day 3 double transfer who is now my 6 week old baby. I am 44. Wishing you success.

I'm confused, if it's only day 3 then why would it be frozen? So you transferred 2 frozen in that attempt? For my next round Im looking at fresh day 3 or 5 transfers and no PGTA. My previous clinic in Spain forced me to do it and then discarded them due to being abnormal. Devastated. X

My NHS clinic policy is if you have less than 3 fertilised then they have to freeze at pro-nuclei stage which is day 1 (freeze all cycle due to ohss risk). I had to have mine frozen otherwise I would have had to go for a fresh transfer. I had 3 embryos frozen, only 2 survived to day 3 (all 3 survived the thaw). I hope this helps.

Good luck. Success here with eggs retrieved at 43 years of age. Transferred two day 3 8 cell grade 1 embryos (frozen transfer aged 44) started off with twins, now have 1 healthy baby boy aged 6 weeks). He arrived a month before my 45th birthday!
