Do's and don't on transfer day

Hi 👋 sorry I don't have any advice just wanted to say hey and sending you lots of positivity for next week 💛 !! My transfer is on Monday and I'm super nervous as this is my first go 😅 X
Hey 👋 keeping everything crossed for you for the go ahead on Monday 🤞 It is soo daunting! I actually think this wait has been the worst one so far. I don't think the progesterone pessaries I've had to take have helped much with my mood, been feeling really lethargic and irritable 🫤 Did you have to take any meds? We got 7 fertilised out of 13 so praying we have at least 2 embryos but will be soo grateful for any. Advice my clinic gave was vague but the same water, plenty of rest, gentle exercise... only wish they could prescribe some distractions! 😁 Best of luck with it all x
Thank you, you too! Today has definitely been my worst day so far, both physically and mentally. This is our one funded NHS round, so seems like a pretty generic treatment plan - was on Ovaleap & Ganirelix during stims, then Ovitrelle for trigger and now Cyclogest pessaries. Feeling crampy, bloated, backache, bit nauseous, and like I’m going to have diarrhoea but I’m constipated… not sure how because I’m drinking so much water. Hard to tell what’s normal because it’s the first time going through it?!
Glad to hear you got your go with the NHS 😊 We were told we would get one go with them but we eventually decided to go down the private route as they messed us around and wasted so much of our time. Your round sounds similar to mine, bemfola and fyremadel for the stims, ovitrelle for the trigger and progesterone since the collection. Yes! Totally get the whole feeling like you need to go all the time but can't. I've spent more time walking back and forth to the bathroom these past few days than anything else! I know it's difficult and everyone reacts so differently to the meds. This forum has been fantastic though, everyone's advice has been soo helpful and even if their story isn't exactly the same, at least you have people that can relate. Take care of yourself x
Sorry to hear they messed you around, that must have been really frustrating. Although we waited a while, I can’t really fault the NHS care we’ve received but I do think it’s a bit of a one-size-fits-all approach, so I’m not holding out too much hope if I’m completely honest. It sounds like we would have got 2-3 more fertilised eggs if they’d done ICSI, so that’s a bit frustrating.
I’m glad to hear of someone experiencing similar symptoms though, as crap as they are, it’s reassuring. And yeah grateful for this forum too 😊 All the best for Monday and take care! x
good luck 🍀 hope everything goes smoothly.
I would plan your journey and give yourself extra time for parking, traffic and little delays in general. Nothing more stressful than feeling like you are rushed or going to be late.
Take your water bottle with you so you can sip water instead of drinking in a rush.
Take a book or magazine to keep yourself occupied while you wait for the transfer.
Little things helped me , like wearing my favourite comfy socks.
Plan to not do much afterwards, I just had a chill afternoon at home on the sofa with the Tv 😂 in fact I fell asleep, I clearly found the day exhausting . Good luck xx
this is the next step, pat yourself in the back for making it so far!
Take a pause right about now. No more thinking about cycles or what’s next etc. Take all your meds on time. Most importantly enjoy your coffee/last glass of wine (if you drink them). Relax and reduce your stress as much as possible before (and after transfer). Go for a massage /spa day or a short holiday!
All the best! Fingers crossed for you ❤️
Fertility accupuncture increases success rates but doctors can’t explain why. I recommend it!
I agree on this one, I had acupuncture the day before the transfer and the day after. Cannot say if it made any difference, but I'm on week 34 of my first fet transfer... Somewhat it help I suppose. More importantly, relax as much as you can, keep your medication timings and try to forget you are on the 2ww after. We went on holiday the week after the transfer and it kept me sane until test day.
just plan for a nice relaxing day 🤗 eat what you want, go somewhere nice after the transfer and try not to worry about every little move that you make as that embryo will be tucked in tight. The transfer itself it’s quick and painless and all round transfer day is a nice little milestone after a long journey in IVF so try and savour it for a day or 2 before the 2WW crazies kick in lol 😝 best of luck 💜🌟 xx
Hi. I definitely recommend taking it easy, however don't repeat what I did for one cycle...
In the cycle, I booked a hotel room near the clinic and decided to simply rest in bed reading a book/sleeping.
Well afterwards, following a disappointing result, I researched it more, and they actually have found out bed rest after a transfer lowers success rates.
You are certainly not meant to do strenuous exercise or heavy lifting, but some light exercise (e.g. short walk round the block) is recommended. I think it is because it helps blood circulation to the uterus. Likewise, acupuncture helps blood flood to the uterus, so that can help. I don't think you need to overthink it. Rest a little while at clinic, try and find relaxing transport home (rather than standing / fighting for room on public transport), and then just go about your normal day - try to avoid stress, and do a few light walks during the day.
Best of luck.
acupuncture to stimulate blood flow to the uterus and help with stress . 🍀🍀good luck
Hi,
I would recommend taking the rest of the day off so you can relax on the day and aren’t thinking about getting back to work.
I would think about what your brain finds absorbing and relaxing and try and factor in a bit of that, is it being in green space, is it doing a crossword, is it sitting in a cafe drinking a decaf tea. Do a whatever gives you a little moment for you.
I have tried to talk to my embryo since transfer to build connection and I’m in the TWW at the moment.
I recommend listening to what your body feels it needs but definitely include some fresh air. Also stay away from googling symptoms as everyone is so different.
Wishing you the very best for your transfer and the rest of your journey. Xx
This is only my 2nd transfer so I am by no means an expert but I was advised by clinic to go about normal day to day activities, eat balanced and not over exert myself so that’s what I am trying to stick to! 😊
For my transfer day, I was instructed to wear my comfiest, coziest and warmest socks (which I did). The reasoning is that if your body is sending blood flow to your extremities to keep your feet warm, it may redirect blood flow away from the uterus and embryo. Also, I ate the core of a pineapple for 5 days post transfer; started with the day of the transfer as day one. Core of pineapple is rich in Bromelain which prevents micro clots from forming in the uterus post transfer and helps decrease inflammation. I relaxed and stayed home from work for about a week. I’m a nurse, so it gets really busy and hectic at work (constant standing, walking, no breaks, stressful, etc.). Work can wait. Focus on yourself and baby! Also, continue to wear warm, comfy clothes throughout pregnancy. Tried to eat healthy of course. Our baby was a 5 day fresh transfer. Sending you lots of warm hugs and good luck! 🙂
