I got medical management for a miscarriage on Monday 27th March, I think the miscarriage happened on the 29th, nothing to see but heavy bleeding. I called EPAC on Thursday 30th and they told me to take a test in 2 weeks which is today. If its negative then I don't have to do anything, if its positive I have to contact EPAC. I ve just done this, does this still class as positive? I don't know what to do.

Really sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I hope you are holding up ok. It’s a light line but I would still give them a call to check if they need to do anything else, or just wait and test again.

I had a miscarriage a few weeks ago and the epu kept giving me blood tests until my hcg level fell below 20. It can take a while to test negative :(

Sending love your way

Hi Cheeky, I'm really sorry to hear what you've been through. For my last miscarriage, even after it felt 'complete' to me, I had a strong positive for three and a bit weeks. I was worried but the EPU told me to call if I still had a positive after three weeks and they would do a follow-up scan. I think I finally got a negative around 4 weeks, but I could see it was getting lighter after three so I waited to see (I also felt fine, if you ever don't feel OK physically you should get checked out sooner).

Love to you during this difficult time x

Sorry to read what you have been through recently - make sure have people around you who can give you support It can take a couple of weeks before test shows negative . Could check with clinic as 1st post says -just to reassure you

I’m really sorry for your loss. EPU here recommend a test after 3 weeks. If positive then, they offered a scan and further intervention if needed

If it helps, I had an incomplete miscarriage and that is significantly lighter than mine was at several weeks after my miscarriage so does seem to be heading in the right direction.

I know I have never wished for a negative test until after miscarrying. Sending love

Hi lovely, so sorry for your loss. I was also told to take a test after 2 weeks which was very positive and when I rang and spoke to a different nurse I was told it should be 3 weeks after medical management. The 3rd week it was clear. It’s just such a horrible time and seeing line made me so upset and felt it took me right back to when I first found out. Thinking of you xxx

I'm sorry you've had to go through this. I recently had a miscarriage. My EPU scanned me again to check nothing is left. They also conducted their own hcg test. Suggest you go back and ask for another scan to be on the safe side.

Dear Cheeky, I am so sorry for your loss, it is the most heartbreaking time for you. Make sure you get support where you can and take all the time you need to heal. I am unfortunately quite a familiar face at my local EPAU, the guidance locally here is also to retest after 3 weeks but get in touch sooner if you are still experiencing any kind of discomfort or unpleasant discharge. Your test is heading in the right direction, when I retained placental tissue with one of my losses the test kept showing up bright positive even a month after the main bleed. I know how distressing this is for you, I am so sorry. Please don't hesitate to call the EPAU for advice, they may advise you to come in for a rescan or to wait another week if you don't have any physical symptoms. Sending you so much love, stay strong! X

I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's happened to me a few times and unfortunately on the 1 occasion where I opted for medical management, it didn't work and I had to have a D&C weeks later to remove the remaining tissue. Please call the EPAC just incase x.

Hi there, I'm very sorry for your loss. Just wanted to say I was still testing positive after my miscarriage 4 weeks later and there was no left over products of conception. Sorry to be so clinical but that's what they call it and I just wanted to reassure you that there's probably nothing wrong. In saying that, if you're experiencing any pain or discomfort you should go to your emergency department right away. Be kind to yourself and take care x
