it’s been 5 months since my failed IVF cycle and no word of any chance of trying again! You’ve got my life in your hands and you are holding my little embryo hostage in the freezer!

so sorry you’re still waiting… is RFC your clinic? Do you mind sharing what happened on the first attempt as I know that can guide when you can go again? Thanks

yes it’s our local nhs clinic. On first attempt we had 9 eggs collected, 4 injected (our choice), 3 thst fertilised, 2 that were transferred and 1 in the freezer. I bled the day before I was meant to test, and tested negative the next day (and the two days after that). Does that give enough info? They don’t tell you much so I don’t really know anything more than that! What sort of things would affect when you can try again?

I waited 15 weeks for a review appointment after that, and at that point was put on waiting list for FET (that’s the first chance I was allowed to be put on waiting list). It’s been 6 weeks from that review and overall I’m still being told 3-4 months from review appt just to get an offer of treatment never mind start drugs and get to another transfer. If it’s not gonna work I’d rather know now, not another 4 months down the line.

contact pals and then make a formal complaint.

Unfortunately the nhs not all but they just don’t care really as your not paying for treatment and unless you stick up for yourself you will be the bottom of the pile .

I’m sorry your not getting the treatment in a good time frame , defo complain , we have to advocate for ourself so much more .

I have been let down a lot by the nhs and I’m just not putting us with it anymore x

I’m not sure if we have PALS in NI? I did contact the trust to complain and they were good about it, a while back but at the moment I’m scared to bite the hand that feeds me before I use up my NHS goes. What if they get p**seed at me and then the person poking me with a catheter isn’t as gentle? NI is such a small place too - likelihood it’s the same doctors working privately.

Don’t give up .

They can’t do that , I just know I can’t sit back myself and let the nhs make mistakes amd delays for me anymore .

I did complain told me it won’t make a difference to my treatment and I won’t get seen early funnily enough get a phone call bringing a appointment sooner , also 45 days to look at a complaint I said that’s fine your taking your time anyway .

Pals tried to help but they where not actually that helpful so took things into my own hands .

Good luck with everything x

yeah we don’t have PALS, we have no-one to advocate for us, apart from charities which do it on a collective basis, not a liaison service like PALS for individual issues.

I waited 6 months to get the results of AMH and sperm analysis thing from them….ridiculous 😡

yeah it was a while for that for me too - I think I asked for the results even tho I had no consultants appt to explain them, and we googled what it meant. I don’t know how to complain tho as Their standard review time IS 12-14 weeks, and the waiting list is that long, so it’s ridiculous, but they’re just not being flexible for those of us coming to the end of our fertile years: I should have been in the system years ago, but I didn’t know I had endo then, and so I couldn’t get referred at 6 months: and covid screwed me over, but some of the waits have been long even before then!

coming 39 in June, I totally get you! When time is against you it just makes it worse. Honestly the whole system is a complete shambles. Then when I did get an appt honestly the doctor wasn’t great at all. It is so hard, I understand, you’re not alone and it’s a totally messed up system!
