I’ve had my egg collection yesterday. 6 eggs collected which they said was good. I’m 39 and this is our first cycle.
Had a call today from our clinic saying that only 2 eggs have fertilised.
They’ve said that they won’t be calling now until Friday morning to keep us updated and that if all’s well and with our ok, may transfer the 2 embryos on the Friday to better chances of pregnancy.
Obviously being our first cycle and this being new to us.
What are the chances with both embryos making it to day 3?
It seems like such a long time to have to wait for any news and I’m a bag of nerves and can’t really relax or switch off. Xx

Hello lovely. This is a really nerve wracking part of the process, I know i was also a bag of nerves so it's totally normal.
Unfortunately you just have to hope for the best but to give you some comfort, I got 13 eggs in my first collection and only 2 fertilised. I was gutted. But both made it to day three. Didn't have any luck with that round but hopefully you can see there's every chance they could make it.
All the best, plenty of distraction is the best approach and have a few treats xx
Hello. IVF is a numbers game but at the end of the day you only need one. For my first cycle, we had 7 eggs, two fertilised and made it to the blastocyst stage. We had one transferred and the other one we were informed would not survive the freezing process. I now have a little boy. Since then we have had a couple of unsuccessful rounds trying for a sibling but I’m pregnant from the third cycle. Again it was 7 eggs, 2 fertilised, fresh transfer did not take but frozen transfer did. Sometimes it just comes down to luck. I hope your lucky two keep developing well. I know how hard the wait is. Wishing you all the best in your journey 🤞 🍀
We had 24 follicles, 16 collected, 9 mature, 3 fertilised. Our first was a fresh transfer which we got a bfp but had an early loss, the next two were frozen transfers, one of which is 3 in May and the second is 6 months old.
Unfortunately it is all pot luck if they make it or not, the way I see it, it’s all 50/50, you’re either lucky or you’re not. We were in the lucky side. That dreaded wait seems such a lifetime ago but when I think back, all the feelings of anxiety come rushing back. All the best to you guys, I hope this cycle is lucky for you ❤️
Hi _DAL_ I’m 43 and in January had my first egg collection and transfer. I had 3 follicles showings in the scan, 2 were retrieved and the 2 got fertilized nicely until day 3 for transfer. Unfortunately they didn’t stick but I believe you have very good chances! 🤞🤞🤞 All the best and let us know the update
