Polypoid Endometrium? Anyone?

Happy Saturday everyone!.. I had a 3D saline scan during an IVF cycle and the consultant said he could see no scarring, no polyps or fibroids. During the scan, he said there was some lining irregularity but it was within the normal range. But he could see nothing that would cause pregnancy loss.

Anyway, he’s written to me to say that he could see no polyps etc and that I had a Polypoid Endometrium.

What’s this?? He hasn’t explained in his letter. My follow up with my usual consultant is in three weeks.

xx

I did an aqua scan (a type of 3D saline scan) 1.5 years ago before I started IVF. They said it looks like a polyp in 2D ultrasound but when they are doing 3D saline scan it looks like polypoid endometrium (they explained to me it is like the wave of my endometrium. It would be a waste to do a Hysteroscopy just for this).

After that I moved clinic. However this polyp look-alike lining keep showing up in my scans. I explained to everyone the finding of aqua scan but the new clinic has a different opinion on this. They insist I should do Hysteroscopy to remove it. Therefore I did but the Dr. performed the operation said I have 'normal uterine cavity' - therefore no polyp!

I hope this is the end of my story but... I started my FET cycle and after my lining grows above 8mm this "polyp" shows up again! They asked a senior doctor scanned me and they still think it is possibly a polyp. My new clinic doesn't believe in 3D saline scan and they prefer to Hysteroscopy. The advice is to do Hysteroscopy again with a senior Dr to confirm however we decided to move ahead with the FET cycle given its size is not big (< 1cm). If this round doesn't work, we will have to do Hysteroscopy again.

Sorry I have no short answer to your question. Just sharing my experience. Hopefully your problem will be more straight forward.

Thanks so much for responding and how confusing for you. The term polyploid endometrium is confusing in itself. I don’t feel as though the 3D sis has helped draw any real conclusions for me and looks as though I’ll possibly need to pay for a hysteroscopy anyway.. All the best for your FET I really hope it’s good news 🤞🤞

Yes, it is tricky - probably you will get different opinions from different consultants. But perhaps Hysteroscopy is good idea. Best of luck! 🤞🤞🤞
