Hi everyone,

hopefully this is allowed on here I do apologise if it isn't.

I found out at my scan on 3rd that I had a missed miscarriage and I choose to let it happen naturally on 8th I had a scan on 13th to confirm all had gone, and to do a pregnancy test on 22/03 which I didn't see the point but my clinic said it was really important that I did, so I did it today and it's still postive, I'm still bleeding slightly and last 2 days had bad cramps,

o can't get hold of epu for advise and I've done an e consult for my doctors , but I was wondering if anyone else has been through this how long it was before you got a negative,

seems like this has been going on forever first had a bleed 10th feb, one off brown blood clinic said old blood is good sign, and little bit more on the weekend but then nothing, lost all my symptoms had my variability scan 23rd that see the sack but it was emptied they couldn't confirm but said it didn't look hopeful and referred me to epu, I had a scan on 25/2 which than said was too close and to have another on the 3rd which confirm empty sack still, and classed as a missed miscarriage,

so was looking for help advise until I hopefully hear back from. Epu or docotors

I am so sorry for your loss.

I believe it can take up to 3 weeks to get a negative test after a miscarriage but you have done the right thing contacting EPU and hopefully they can take some bloods for you. I had similar in that I kept getting positive tests despite having surgical management and they kept taking me in for scans and saying there was nothing there, but eventually on about my third visit they finally took some bloods and my HCG showed there was still retained tissue so I had to have a second lot of surgery. I would encourage them to do some bloods just to check your levels are low and going down still x

Hello Leesalou, I am so sorry you are going through this. It can take a while for the pregnancy test to give a negative result after a miscarriage but your symptoms could point towards retained tissue that hasn't come away in the main bleed you've been having. I would call the EPAU again to scan you again, they will be able to confirm if you have retained tissue from the pregnancy and talk you through your options. I had this with my last loss unfortunately and tried medical management (tablets) first, however ended up having a D&C and it was a much less frightening experience than I had imagined in my head. The medical team was very sympathetic and gentle on the day and I felt physically so much better than I had for weeks with ongoing cramping. It is such a difficult time for you to get through, I hope you have good support and shoulders to lean on right now! xx

thank you for you're reply, I'll give them a call in the morning, and go from there, as the cramps I'm getting are like that what I got just before I passed all the clots on the 8th, I guess I go from that date and not from the original bleed or even the viability 23/02

As if the 8th I guess it's only Just 2 weeks,

I really can't remember what epu said on 13th apart from to do the test today I was just annoyed they was asking me to do that when they basically said it had gone but my clinic explain it's to do with hg levels, xx

I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this- it all going on so long is hard. I had medical management at 8 weeks for a 7 week MC. My HCG was still positive 5 weeks later! I had a period about a week later then. Definitely go back to the EPU. Sending you strength and positivity xx

It was a long time and really rubbed salt into the wound- especially after having medical management that you only hope speeds up the awful process. Keep calling and advocating for yourself. Xx

Hi, I’m so so sorry for your loss. With my first misscariage I remember testing positive until a good 2/3 weeks after which just adds salt to the wound. The clinic weren’t overly concerned about this either, I think I was still bleeding a little. Tests have never been the same for me since for that very reason. It’s all just such a cruel process but one you will get through and come out of even stronger than you are now. Take as much time as you need to grieve and heal, there are no right and wrong answers of how to deal with this. Just make sure you look after yourself xxx

thanks for you're reply, definitely is a cruel process, I'm still bleeding but not regularly just every now now then and really light, with cramps,

Just thought so the rest and it be negative as they confirmed on the 13th was all gone :(

Thanks for your reply x

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage I had exactly the same experience back in 2018, went for my 12 week scan to find I'd had a missed miscarriage at just over 8 weeks. I had the tablets to begin with but 2 weeks later still had positive tests, returned for a scan to find out I had RPOC so at that stage opted for a D&C. I had the D&C was told to wait a cycle and try again. Totally didn't listen tried again straight away and to our surprise we fell pregnant with twins. I really hope you can get seen by epau you may not have RPOC but best to get it checked 👍

what it's rpoc?

Waiting for them to call back,

Amazing news about you're twin pregnancy,

Unfortunately my only option is ivf I can't fall naturally so I have to wait for my clinic to give go ahead which they won't until it's negative,

I've phone appointment with them next week to discuss what's happen and a plan forward,

Which I'm still undecided what I'm going to do

Thanks for you're reply xx

I believe it’s retained products of conception x

Optimisticsurrogate in reply toLeesalou

Hey, it stands for retained products of conception so if there's any 'tissue' related to the pregnancy that's not come away your body may believe you are still pregnant and continues to produce hcg. My twins are now 3.5 years old, this was just one of my experiences with miscarriage but I've had a few. My most recent 2 were ivf pregnancies as a surrogate so I have a little experience there too. With our clinic we have discussed add ons for our next cycle. If you look at the hfea website there's some information on there regarding each one, I believe there's not a huge amount of evidence from research groups but I don't think it hurts to try some things. Good luck 👍

I am so sorry this is happening to you. I am with you in mind and spirit.

This happened to me with my first baby. It was heartbreaking. A missed miscarriage is a nasty trick our bodies can play on us. I lost my baby around 3 months ... It was a missed miscarriage. The bleeding was very slow at first and then BOOM, it sped up dramatically. I was almost 3 months along so that might mean the bleeding is worse. However, I needed to get a D&C surgery to clean out my uterus. It appears to me that you might have to get the D&C surgery since it is evident you still have pieces of your sweet pregnancy in your uterus (positive pregnancy test)

I would make sure you are seen and make sure you ask your doctor about a D&C.

I am so sorry. I am here for you xoxo

thank you, yes they spoke of all procedures and as it was around my sons and my birthday I decided to do it naturally,

I'm just waiting for Epu to call me back and go from there, my doctors booked me a scan but not bloods so Just rang them to see why not and I got to wait for them to get back to me too.

Thanks for you're reply x
