Hydrosalpinx. I have a complete left tubal blockage with Hydrosalpinx…my consultant advised me to go surgery before proceeding for the Ivf

am afraid and I dnt want to go for the surgery …the process sounds scary as the doctors themselves advise egg retrieval before the surgery is done that means anything may happen !

Is anyone here with a similar situation?am so depressed

Hie KimkikThey also found hydrosalpinx in my uterus during stimulation and I had to have both my tubes removed on the same day just after egg collection. That was a month and two weeks ago. I've just today started my FET medication and hope for transfer soon. My clinic advised that it's the best way given that the hydrosalpinx is bad for implantation and I really don't need the tubes for ivf. It's always scary but I'm just hoping for the best. Please don’t worry - I had one on my left tube and the whole tube was removed. The operation was fine, easy recovery and had my miracle daughter two years later, you need it removed before IVF x

Hi Like others have said you need it removed as it effects implantation. I waited over a year before surgery on NHS as I had to have a HSG X-ray first . However when it came to having the surgery there was no hydrosalpinx . My surgeon said it happens as surgery is the only sure way of diagnosing a Hydrosalpinx. They did find Endo on my bowels though which I suspected for ages. If it wasn't for having surgery I would have never been diagnosed. It's scary but does help . Good luck .

hi there, I’ve also had my left tube removed. Had two mc beforehand likely caused by this — the fluid prevents full implantation. Surgery was straightforward (keyhole) and recovery didn’t take long. They won’t do ivf without surgery as successful pregnancy is v unlikely. Not sure there’s much risk with it re collection - i never heard that unless it’s just to get ahead time wise and already have some banked x

I had surgery. I also went private because the NHS waiting list was really long.

The procedure is nothing, in and out in a day,no pain but I had loads of trouble because the surgeon only removed one side and then the IVF clinic found the same on the other side ( pretty much weeks after the surgery). I ended up in a battle with the private clinic but they did pay another hospital to remove the other and they paid ( the surgeon who did the procedure had left). The second hospital said they should have took both at the same time.

Don't be scared. I had my right fallopian tube removed in august 22. It wasn't painful. Just a couple of days where is a bit sore. That's all. I was back at work within a few days.

They defo need to do this operation before any FETs. The blockage makes the area slippy with fluid so the embryo are unlikely to stick.

Your fertility does go down a bit by having the operation so they like to collect as many eggs beforehand.

I got pregnant shortly after my operation but then miscarried at 8 weeks.

Id definitely recommend to get it treated before you continue, with cycle,

I had one tube removed and the other one is clipped, it's all done key hole , x

Hi Kim Kim,Please don't be scared!! I had both if my tubes removed before any IVF treatment as they were both blocked and the surgery went really well, I can hardly see my scars any more and recovered almost completely within a few days. I also went private as the NHS wait times were about 18 months in my area.

I was really sad too when I was told I needed the surgery but actually felt a huge wave of relief once it was done. I was sad every month my period came for 6 years that I hadn't conceived and it actually felt like a huge relief not having to have that stress any more knowing IVF would be our only option. I'm very very thankfully currently 30 weeks pregnant post FET (second time lucky) and everything has gone soooo well so far!

I was given antibiotics in theatre in regards to your question above

If you've got any questions about the surgery please do look at some of my previous posts and replies the ladies on here were sooooo helpful and really got me through!
