im going to go through the first cycl... - Fertility Network UK
im going to go through the first cycle of ivf soon, could anyone share with me the side effects of the drugs that i will be on.
Hi ive just been through our first IVF/ICSI, unfortunately it did not work this time for us but any questions you have I am happy to help you.
im really sorry to hear that, did they say why it was unsuccessful?? and ar you going to go for it again?
Hi I didn't have any side effects from the medication. I suppose I was a bit more emotional than usual but that was it. hopefully you wont have any side effects either so don't worry its not as scary as it seems. good luck
ah thank you very much for the reassurance, i guess everybody is different and react differently to the medications, i am more worry about the injections, i hate needles. how long would i have to take them?
Hi Shirley, we were very lucky to have 7 Blastocysts left over from are failed cycle, they have been frozen for us and we are going to do Ivf again with these in January, we should get another 2 maybe 3 cycles from these. They have not spoke to us yet about what happened, we go to the clinic on the 30th December to discuss things and move forward with are frozen Embryos.
thank you very much Danielle. good luck with your next cycle.
You will take the injections for approximately 5 weeks, it is not as bad as you imagine.
well i guess i have to go the injections and medication if i really really want to have a baby. well im 37 so time is ticking away, will be 38 in 4 months time, so really need to get things running. i am getting it done on the nhs
Hi Shirley, how many cycles are you being funded?
well i was told 2 fresh cycles are funded for only and we have to pay for frozen cycles, also if we wanted to freeze embryos, there will be a charge
That must be different to us because we get 3 cycles of IVF plus frozen included in same cycle, can I ask where you live as it may be due to the fact we live in different areas.
i live in camden, london
You are not too far, we are being treated at Newcastle..
actually i will look into more now, cz i was told 2 fresh cycles, when i went for the initial appointment
Yes look into it more and be sure.
I am currently doing my one and only nhs funded cycle. Been feeling a bit ropey the last couple of days but not sure that is down to the meds. Think I might have a virus. Injections aren't as bad as I thought and once you've got the first one out the way it's fine. Best of luck x
thank u purple pixie, when did u start the meds? n how many cycles hoes nhs fund for u?
Hi. I had my first cycle of icsi this year which unfortunately failed. We are going for it again in the spring. I didn't find the injections too bad even though I was on the highest stim drug. I found putting a hot water bottle on the area I was going to inject, tummy or thigh, a great help. Apart from a couple of bad nights sleep at the beginning of down regging and a swollen tummy, I didn't really have any side effects from the drugs. Good luck. You will be fine
thank u very much pumpkin1, every little information helps. good luck with ur next ivf.
I got some headaches with the buserelin shots, I think maybe from dehydration. Otherwise few side effects. Clomid made me really angry, tho.
Hi shirley100 I got some headaches from the Buserelin and felt thirsty the first week I started, when I started the Menopur the side effects started to subside, when I took the HCG shot I felt bloating and my ovaries starting expanding due to 40 follicles I had grown due to the Menopur. Egg collection was ok but I was sick from the sedation and I wont lie the pain I felt after egg collection was not nice and took me 2 weeks to recover because the number of eggs they retrieved, 22. However I did not suffer from overhyperstimulation which was a bonus as some ladies do.
