Thoughts on embryo quality

Hi, I hope everyone is keeping well. I’ve just finished my 2nd cycle of a 3 cycle package and have a couple of things I’d appreciate you lovely people’s thoughts on.

1. I have 11 frozen embryos of varying quality. Which obviously I’m hugely thankful that I even got 1 as I know it only takes that special 1.

A few are 5Ab and 5Bb’s but also quite a few of 4Cc, 5Cc, 6Bb and 6Cc. Im sending off for PGT-A testing after my 3rd cycle but does anyone have views on which to test or anyone have success stories of some of the poorer quality embryos?

2. The 3rd cycle, which will be in c2 months will be my final ever egg collection. I’ve been maintaining a healthy diet, not drinking, taking folic acid, ubiquinol and vitamin D. Does anyone have any advice on anything else they’d recommend over the next couple months to try and help me produce good quality eggs for my final cycle? I’m also going to try acupuncture for the first time leading up to the cycle.

Hello Crie1983, first of all wishing you enormous luck for your next egg collection cycle! I had good success with DHEA supplementation, been taking this roughly for three months prior to egg collection, there is a lot of research out there on the promising impact on egg quality and resilience but it's not without controversy, it may not be for everyone. My consultant also added Melatonin during stimulation to my last cycle and that was the one that produced my only euploid embryos. As for which embryo qualities to select for PGT-A, your clinic may have a policy on this, it is worth checking with the embryology team. My clinic only biopsy embryos of good quality, I was told B-B- would be the minimum quality they'd require for testing as the assumption is that anything lower than B minus may not survive the thawing, biopsy and refreezing process. x

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Some good advice and tips there for me to explore. With regards to the testing the clinic have biopsied and frozen all of those embryos of varying grades. But I’m going to ask them whether all would be suitable for testing or if they’d only test those of a certain grading. X
