2 week wait and work stress

Hello ladies,

I’m hoping you can give some reassurance.

I’m currently 7 days post a 5 day transfer of two lovely embryos and I’m having a day from hell at work. ( today is my first day back after 6 days holiday)

I’ve told my boss everything that’s going on with my ivf and he’s been supportive but still work asks a lot from me.

I’ve started having pains today and I’m worried that I’ve ruined it for myself by getting stressed.

This is my third attempt so I’m 100% carrying trauma with this now.

Just wanted to get out how I’m feeling with people who would understand

Love to you all

I’m sorry work is being a source of stress for you it’s not what you need. Is there a way to step away from the aspect that is causing stress? Can you pass on something to a colleague or back to your boss in the short term (I have previously been in very stressful work situations and have just said ‘I am finding this very difficult to focus on and give my full support to right now and need to step away’ for anyone to say this communicates clearly you are not in a place to deal with some things right now as effectively as you might want to. Be honest here and put yourself first today, work is important but you are more important and you’re well being and maybe consider additional leave or reducing hours to focus on you - I hope things work out xxx

thank you so much for your help. I’ve messaged my boss and left early today. Your right, what’s happening with my body is more important than work this week. The two week wait is torture so weather or not I get the outcome I want on test day, I need to be really kind to myself x

Don’t worry, the stress will not impact your pregnancy. My only successful pregnancy in 7 years was at the most stressful time of my life! And if you like your job, at least for the most part, it might just be a nice distraction from the waiting! Putting pressure on yourself to never be stressed is going to cause you more stress, which won’t affect your pregnancy but might affect how well you are during it! Be kind to yourself and good luck 🤞 I hope this is the one x

I am currently 6PT9DT and this week has been a lot. I ended up just taking the day off work today for my own mental well-being. Work commitments are so difficult when you’re already dealing with this huge personal thing. It’s so tough as you don’t want to have to constantly explain but equally you need to so they can understand and give you the time you need. I am glad you got the afternoon off. My boss even said to me, your personal life comes before your work life.

Remember this process is temporary and your work will always be there. Take this time for yourself. They can’t discriminate either way. Stay strong 💪🏼

thank you for your lovely message. We are at the same stage as each other in our cycle and I feel like I’m in an emotional tornado at this point, so I completely understand how you feel. I’m glad you’ve had the day off to rest and recover. Sending love x

I know that feeling, yesterday I was an emotional wreck, I’d like to say out of nowhere. I have now had every possible symptom under the sun and still no sign of a positive line. The process is draining and this is just my first go. Today I fully switched off, ate good food, napped, caught up series and just rested. It was needed. Is your test day Saturday also or are your clinic making you wait until 14 days? X

Really pleased to hear you’ve had a good self care day. Hope you are able to find calm over the next few days too. This is such a hard journey we all need to find a way of prioritising us.

My test day is Saturday too. I haven’t tested yet and have no idea how it will go this time. The first time it was positive but I had a chemical and the second time it was negative, both times I felt I knew the answer before I got to the test. I started brown spotting yesterday so I’ve been on period watch since. Wishing for baby dust for us both. I’ll be thinking of you over the next few days too x

I feel pretty calm now but I think it’s because I know what the outcome probably is going to be if I’m honest. As sad as it is, I feel ok about it. We have 14 amazing grade Embryos on ice that are ready to go, so if this round wasn’t meant for us, then it wasn’t meant to be. I just wish there was a reason which I am not sure we will get. I really hope yours is positive this time, lots of baby dust sent your way! Keep them hopes up ✨ xx

Wow that’s an amazing number of embryos. My fingers are crossed for you that you see success soon. It is hard to not know the reason why it doesn’t work at times, hopefully your clinic will have some ideas on what your next steps should be. It does feel like playing a lottery at times. xxx
