2 week wait

Hi,

I'm a little late to the thread, but like others, I came across this when googling about the on/off boob pain while on the 2 week wait!

I had a fresh transfer 6 days ago, and have been told to test Monday 26th. 2 days ago i got the sore boobs, but today they seem to have gone back to normal :(

I was so positive before this, but I cant help but think is it the time of the month arriving, as when I'm due on, I usually suffer with sore boobs too, that are on/off before the period arrives. It's so frustrating, and the wait is making me feel nervous! I did also have over the last few days on/off white discharge, don't know if anyone else has experienced this? This is my first time going through IVF, and throughout the whole process, I've surprised myself with how laid back and chilled I've been, until today the soreness stopped, now I can't stop over thinking the worst outcome!

I suppose time will only tell! Wishing you all good luck on your IVF journey x

Good luck 🍀 I didn’t get any symptoms at all with my BFP so don’t worry about no symptoms of on/off symptoms, there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it x

Yeah I keep trying to tell myself that everyone is different and no body is the same! I used to read on Google people would say the 2 week wait was hardest bit…. Now I know why! Xx

My boobs were sore from the trigger, then stopped about 4dp5dt, then 6/7dp5dt started again. I'm currently pregnant 14dp5dt. My nipples are very sensitive and sore lol.

But others have absolutely no symptoms or have symptoms that disappear and they have positive tests. 🤞For you, best wishes.

Thank you! I’m hoping it’s my body just slowly changing hormones and hopefully my little embryo is finding its feet. Never knew this 2 week wait would be so hard and confusing!! Xx

I'm in same situation as you (first ivf round, transfer last thurs), keep wondering if i'm just pmt or have implanting symptoms. Also have whiter discharge and thought/think i might have a bit of thrush from the progesterone pessaries, which seems to be a common issue.

Best of luck x

Ahhh how did you find the ivf journey? It’s amazing all steps you have to go through isn’t it. I went in quite relaxed and opened minded, not actually realising how intense it is! When have the clinic told you to test? Best of luck keeping everything crossed! Hoping we both get some more symptoms in this next week ! Xx

Heya, i found it all very quick and efficient to be honest, i've had a massive build up; my relationship broke down early 2023 so i decided i'd go it alone but then found out i had lots of uterine fibroids so have spent the last year or so trying to deal with those, i still have some though. But after two fibroid resection surgery's this year the IVF felt easy...having said that, now the 'active process' is over I'm a bit of a wreck and keep crying but that is probs the hormone come-down. I only had 3 eggs extracted, 2 fertilised and made it to day three and both went in. Sending a big hug and good vibes your way, my official test day is next thursday but not sure i'll last that long!

Hi Kate, IVF is such a rollercoaster and I find the 2ww the worse part of it! I won’t say try to relax and keep your self busy cause I know from own experience won’t necesarry work but try to do something that you enjoy or visit places you like. We have same test day, in my case after a frozen transfer. I wouldn’t worry that much about symptoms we are all different and even no symptoms can mean a positive, just try to resist the urge of testing earlier then 10days. C’mon we’ve got this, we’ll soon know! Fingers crossed for a BFP x

Ahhh exciting we have the same test day, lets hope we both get our little dream pregnancy test! Keeping everything crossed for you. I have quite a busy weekend coming, so I'm hoping that will take my mind off it and I won't be tempted to test, I'm really going to try my hardest to wait! Wishing you all the luck, will keep you posted on my outcome xxx

hi Kate, I caved and tested really early on Saturday as my boobs were so sore I just knew deep down it would be positive and it was positive!! But… boob pain completely vanished on Sunday, spent the whole day in tears as was so convinced it was all over. But I’m still positive. Obviously extremely early days and I had heard this before and ignored it - but genuinely in my experience boob pain coming and going is not a bad sign. Keeping everything crossed for you xx

Oh wow congratulations! I bet you are over the moon. Was it your first round of IVF?

I hope I get the same good news as you! xxx

Thank you - yes I'm pleased, hard to believe it's true and obviously very early days - still a few days out from OTD which is Saturday. First transfer, yes, but we did 3x rounds of egg collection to build up a bank of embryos in case we have miscarriages/failed transfers and to hopefully have the option of having multiple children - so it's been a process!

Boob pain still hasn't come back and apart from the odd twinge and a bit of what feels like period pain I have no symptoms.

Really hope you get good news X

hey lovely- I notice you’ve written ‘I’m worried it will be the ‘worst’ outcome’ they don’t tell you this in IVF but for most women it takes more than one transfer for it to work and even perhaps more than one egg collection and the first round is about learning what works for you. I just wanted to reach out to say if it doesn’t work it doesn’t mean the next one won’t or there is anything you could have did different- as I remember my first transfer being so positive and no one told me about the ‘what of it doesn’t work’ part! It’s crap and upsetting of course but it’s okay and happens to most people first time.

That being said for some ladies it absolutely does work first time and from someone who has had success before with IVF and currently pregnant with an IVF sibling sore boobs mean absolutely nothing in the 2WW about the success of it and are normally just about the progesterone we are on etc. so you have every chance of success (current pregnancy I never had sore boobs until about 5 weeks pregnant and they come and go all the time) best of luck to you! 💜Xx

KateD2707 in reply toTwiglet2

Hey!

Yes tbh I have read a lot online, with people saying the first round didn't work, and the more rounds you do, the chances of it working are higher! I am trying to be realistic with it all, but it's really hard not to get excited, wondering this could be it! I have told myself I will try again after if not successful, but I wont let it take over my life. When I was at the clinic everyone was so positive about everything, and they have offered a counselling if not successful, so I can't fault them in that way, but yes you are right, they don't actually talk to you about what if it doesn't work?

I never actually thought I would have to be going through IVF to have a baby, it almost seems a bit surreal that I'm going through this journey (which I am very grateful for) - but i always tell myself, if I'm meant to be a mummy then I will.

Will keep you posted on my outcome xx

Hiya, I'm just a day behind you, my first time round too. I've had no boob pain but am still swollen and look like I ate all the pies.... Also have heartburn which is no fun.

To be honest, given the progesterone I'm on, I don't have a clue what's possible pregnancy beginning and what's not. I think my body is basically going 'what are you doing to us' through all this, not unreasonably! We've been putting ourselves through a lot so I wouldn't really be surprised by any symptoms right now.

Keeping fingers crossed for us all! x

KateD2707 profile image
KateD2707 in reply toAdoptedTOWIE

Ahhhh exciting, we are basically in the same boat!

And yes I also look like I’ve eaten for England, never felt bloating like it, I said to my partner it already looks like I’m pregnant! Our bodies have gone through a lot with all sorts of meds, so your right it could be a mixture of everything plus pregnancy (hopefully)

I’m due to test on Monday but I know as soon ad the weekend comes I’m going to want to do a test! Will let you know the outcome, wishing you all the luck too! Xxx

Ah you too! Thank goodness it's summer and we can wear floaty dresses 😂I am due to test Sunday, will let you know. I'm keeping everything crossed for us all here. Trying also to be realistic and be grateful that things have gone ok so far and we got some embryos on ice too.

Keep looking after yourself, we're all being really strong! Xx

my boob pain still hasn’t come back and I’m still positive so I really don’t think it means anything- can’t tell you how upset I was on Sunday after it happened to me. Please please try not to worry I think it may just be your body adjusting to progesterone xx

KateD2707 profile image
KateD2707 in reply toOrttc

Well reading this has made me feel abit better as I haven’t had no boob pain since the other day, keep touching them thinking does this hurt 🙈

Were you bloated at all? I am extremely bloated, with tummy pains, like I’ve never experienced bloating like this in my life! Don’t know if it’s the progesterone pessaries or pre period symptoms! think im going to test Saturday morning instead of Monday, I don’t know how much longer I can wait, it’s eating away at me! I bet you still can’t get your head around the positive test, must be such a nice feeling. ❤️❤️❤️

Orttc profile image
Orttc in reply toKateD2707

Yep bloated and twinging pains and occasionally period pains. Keep feeling like my period is going to come and that I’m out but lines are getting steadily darker. I read so many people saying you can’t read into symptoms in the 2ww so thought I’d be calm and rational and here I am overthinking every single thing! So please take it from me that symptoms coming and going and period like symptoms aren’t a bad sign in my experience! Really good luck xxx

KateD2707 profile image
KateD2707 in reply toOrttc

I actually cannot believe I’m writing this, but I caved and tested this morning and it’s a full on dark line that is positive! I really can’t believe it’s worked first time round, I feel so lucky! Hope you’re feeling ok and everything is still very positive for you! Xx

AdoptedTOWIE profile image
AdoptedTOWIE in reply toKateD2707

Congratulations, Kate! Really pleased for you!

I tested this morning and it's come out with a second line too. It's faint but it counts as positive! Very very happy, while still trying to remember this is super early stages and anything may or may not happen. One day at a time.

Also my bloating is starting to improve a bit - I felt physically so uncomfortable the last 10 days that I am nearly as glad about this, tbh. Managed to avoid hospital, but it didn't feel 'mild' at all. I hope your symptoms are also getting better xx

KateD2707 profile image
KateD2707 in reply toAdoptedTOWIE

Ahhh congratulations to you too for getting a positive line! It’s a nice feeling isnt it, actually seeing it! Was today your test day or did you test early? I’m going to test tomorrow again as that’s when they told me to test!

The bloating is really really bad for me, I went out for a family meal last night and couldn’t do any of my trousers up! I know I’m going to gradually get bigger over the months, but I really hope this bloating calms down soon as it’s causing me to have crap nights sleep when turning (doesn’t help I have a puppy in the bed too) lol!

I’m still in shock that this process as worked for me, it feels quite magical! But yes you’re right it’s very early days, keeping everything crossed for us! Xxx

AdoptedTOWIE profile image
AdoptedTOWIE in reply toKateD2707

Today was my test day (I did cave and also do one yesterday, and the results looked the same.)

I have given up on all normal trousers and ordered a pair of very large stretchy joggers 😅. I am still definitely looking about 4 months pregnant but the last day or so I don't quite feel as horribly stretched or painful so this is an improvement. And I can actually eat more than a few mouthfuls again, hurray! As I'm a day or two ahead of you, I think, I hope yours also improves - the nurse said to me it should hopefully do so.

Would recommend sleeping propped up a bit in bed (4 pillows worked for me) as I found that better than being entirely flat on my back (stopped the heartburn radiating up into my chest). I absolutely couldn't sleep on either side, just hurt too much. A hot water bottle also helped me.

Aww, how cute with the puppy! We were dog-sitting for friends through some of this whole process and I found having an animal around was helpful to keep my mind off worrying. Also the dog, bless her, seemed to know when I really wasn't feeling well. Make sure your pup doesn't bound over your stomach too much though!

Enjoy the rest of your bank holiday xx

Morning to you both,

Hope you’re both feeling ok! I have had really bad back last couple of days and trying to sleep last night was horrible. Have either of you had this? I’m also still quite bloated and uncomfortable.

But on a lighter note I just done a test again (the day I was meant to) and there’s still a dark line that confirms I’m pregnant! :) xxx

AdoptedTOWIE profile image
AdoptedTOWIE in reply toKateD2707

Morning!

We had similar nights, I think.... I woke up this morning realising the uncomfy bloat is partly returned (sigh) and my back aches too. I find it amazing to think that doing conception the 'normal' way people would likely have no symptoms and be completely unaware at this stage! Envy!

I hope you feel better soon. I am at least hungry so breakfast will improve things :) xx

KateD2707 profile image
KateD2707 in reply toAdoptedTOWIE

Hey!!

How you feeling? Yes I thought the same, it’s mad how IVF pregnancies suffer with this massive bloat but others don’t. I have friends that have fallen pregnant (not using ivf) and they are amazed at the size of my bloated stomach lol!

I went to the clinic today for my blood tests, I get the results late tomorrow afternoon, hopefully all ok! They also booked me in for my first scan next month, now it all definitely seems real! Hope you’re feeling ok! Xx

AdoptedTOWIE profile image
AdoptedTOWIE in reply toKateD2707

Ooh fingers crossed for you! Yes, my first scan is on the 16th, I liked putting that in the diary.

I don't know when / if we ever lose the bloat, but today I have felt it was more manageable. Just pretended I ate all the pies ;) I suspect the key will simply be to buy bigger clothes early as I definitely cannot fit in any jeans I own right now.

Hope you're managing ok. Perhaps I am readjusting my new idea of what 'normal' feels like now and this is something we are simply learning a little earlier than women who don't do IVF? Xx

AdoptedTOWIE profile image
AdoptedTOWIE in reply toKateD2707

Oh, I caved and bought one of the expensive clearblue tests yesterday that says 'pregnant 1-2 weeks' on it - it made me really happy to see it written down. Would recommend :)
