Just wanted to know..has anyone experienced period delay just before starting an IVF cycle? Is this common?
I was due to start my first ivf cycle this week and my period is now 4 days late. It's agonising after such a long wait to get to this point. I'm worried that if it doesn't arrive before Saturday my clinic might push me back another month!
I realise the more I stress the later it will get but I can't seem to find a way to relax.
If anyone has had the same experience it would be good to hear. I don't want to pester the clinic for reassurance but thinking about ringing them to put my mind at ease or at least find out what will happen if it is super late.
Xx

Yes stress can and does cause problems with your cycle - they can be early or late Try to make sure you have time to relax -swimming ,yoga and breathing exercises Let your clinic know - they will be able to tell you what your next step should be For completeness have you done a test ?
Thank you Janet, your comments are much appreciated. I was thinking of testing, however, my husband is azoospermic and they just managed to get enough sperm from the tested for treatment so I think it's just stress. I'll take your hints and try and build in some relaxation. It's a bit tricky though because I am also trying to shield from covid! Thank you again 😊
The cycle before one of my FETs was 50 days long! Normally 30. It was definitely because of stress as I was also moving house. I kept my clinic informed and they weren't too concerned but would do some testing if it prolonged beyond 50 days. I googled how to induce a period (hot bath and sex if I recall!) It ended up working, I got my period and I went ahead with the FET cycle immediately. I ended up having a chemical but the cycle itself all went smoothly. Hopefully it all works out for you x
For IVF-related stress, reflexology worked really well for me. It is a light-touch foot massage and I felt amazing and very relaxed after each session. Good luck with your treatment!
Glad I'm not the only one. This is the second time my period has been delay (first time it was 40 day cycle and now I'm on day 47. I've been told cause of my age it might be start of menopause but I dont believe that. I don't feel or think I was stressed but maybe I am. Its annoying as I missed last months cycle cause clinic closes over Christmas break.
