Hi all, I am new to this platform but was hoping to reach out to people who might be in a similar position. I have gained a lot of weight and currently have a BMI of around 43 which I know is frighteningly high. I feel I have a really disordered relationship with food and eating and so am really struggling with the pressure and overwhelmingness of having to lose so much weight before getting any help with fertility. I havent had a period in over 6 months and feel completely disheartened and ashamed. Any words of wisdom would be very gratefully received!! TIA x

Feeling fed up
hello I was in the exact same boat as you. My bmi was 43.1 I was just under 16 stone and barely 5 foot. I lost 5 stone but then found that I had lost it too fast and it had messed up all my hormones. The nhs wanted me to get under 11 stone and I got to 11 stone and stuck. They wouldn’t take me. So I went abroad for ivf and they said that it had been detrimental losing it so quickly … gutted. My advice would be to go to a group i did slimming world and take your time. 1-2lb a week. Smaller portions and cut out/down fizzy drinks and junk. I know it seems so hard there were days when I was just so fed up with it all. But you can do it xxx
Thank you so much for your reply, I feel the system is so flawed and judgemental. Some days I really dont like myself and feel so angry I have let myself get to this point! A group sounds like a good idea, thank you. How has your journey come along? Xx
Wow congratulations, fingers crossed everything goes well. Thank you so much for your kind message, keeping positive is half the battle!! Xx
