Crinone pain

So I am on Crinone twice a day (anyone else ever been put on it twice a day? The instruction leaflet seems to imply once).

I also have endo of the cervix (ablation done but still tender) and find internal stuff often painful. I was coping okay-ish with Crinone by doing deep breathing and relaxing my pelvic floor. Still a little bit traumatic tho.

However last night I was going out and I did my Crinone in a rush, I couldn’t get it in so had to push harder which then either irritated my muscles or scraped me inside (why the flip do they let us put a twist off plastic with sharp end inside us?)

This morning I’m still feeling irritated and of course had to do my morning Crinone. Which again hurt, plus I think - annoyingly after all the good work I’ve done to relax during internal scans - my body seems to be saying no now, and it’s a battle to get it in rather than the muscle relaxation almost encouraging it in.

so now it’s hurt again. I know from past experience that pain causes tension which causes more pain. How do I break this cycle when I can’t take a break to let my insides calm down? Why would they have prescribed this for someone who almost had to have gas and air for an internal scan. And are there any tips for making it easier, or maybe alternatives my clinic could prescribe me? Tablets maybe 😇

Hi ForABabyPanda. So sorry to hear that you are suffering so. I wonder if you could speak to your clinic and ask if you could have your progesterone in pessary form that you could put in your back passage, so you are not causing any irritation. Good luck! Diane

it has to go up somewhere then? No chance of a tablet?! Just worried that would irritate me somewhere else, Altho I have read of people preferring it! I just am cautious about anything going up there as I have a family history of colon cancer and I’ve already had one polyp myself! I did read about a pessaryy that was a waxy thing rather than cream in an applicator so that could be less irritating possibly?

HI forAbabyPanda. There are injections you could ask about. Diane

I am so sorry you are having problems, I can't help with them but I wanted to reassure you I was on crinone twice a day xx

well that’s at least good reassurance that I haven’t accidentally been given the wrong dose! I wonder why it’s so different? a friend of mine is going through it at exact same time but is on 1 a day. And if it’s because my progesterone is low then why the flip didn’t they just try me on this first on its own rather than putting me through IVF?

To be honest every clinic seems to be different with progesterone and seem to have different standards. My first clinic I was just on 2x cyclogest a day and then the second I was on INSANE amounts of progesterone - pretty much in every hole! 😆 I don't necessarily mean your progesterone is low, its just some are more 'belts and braces' than others.

You can't put crinone anywhere except vaginally, but something like cyclogest is the waxy suppository that you mention that can go rectally. I would speak to your clinic about alternatives maybe? xx

yeah I mean if it starts to inhibit my ability to actually get any progesterone in me at all, theyd have to do something right? Just worried about them telling me to suck it up and if I can’t cope with this how am I going to cope with childbirth!!

Hi there, I am on crinone twice a day. It’s awful stuff isn’t it. I got so many side effects from it when I first starting taking it. It was honestly worse than the other medication I’ve been on.

I often find there’s abit of resistance getting the plastic thing in too. After a few days of taking it and struggling to get it in, I realised (and this is going to be way too much info!) you have to have abit of a dig out of the old stuff every couple of days or so. And when you see the amount that comes out, it’s easy to see why it’s hard to get the plastic thing in in the first place!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ X x

ugh I’ve heard someone say about that on another thread - thankfully while straining on the toilet for no 2 (lol way too much info) quite a lot of the cottage cheesiness came out and it’s been slightly easier since! With mine it definitely felt like my pelvic floor was what was causing the resistance (but could also have been the gunk). Why do they send us away with this stuff and not explain about the clearing out business? Cos everything else they’ve said would indicate NIT sticking my finger up there - so how else would I know?

So many side effects, and apparently have to take this for 12 weeks if I get pregnant?! I’ve not de bloated since stims!
