Tips for using Crinone

Good morning to all IVF warriors!

I’ve started today to use the Crinone vaginal gel ahead of a fresh transfer on the 19th, and when I opened the package I was a bit...surprised 😳

The syringe is weird looking and I’m not sure all the gel goes in....do you have any tips to share to ensure I apply it correctly please?

I’ve also heard it can make you itchy...what can I do if that happens?

And they say it can cause build up, and it’s fine to remove it....is that true?

It's pretty simple to be honest, no magic there....just insert and squeeze the end. You do get a build up, it's pretty disgusting and collects into lumps inside. Just clean out the excess when you are in the shower.....sorry if tmi!🙈🤣xx

Thank you so much! Yes you’re right, it’s idiot prof squeeze and go but I was panicking because I couldn’t see if it went all in or not! Any idea how long does it take to absorb? I’m trying to lay down for a while after just in case 🙈xxx

Think reckon around 20mins for your body to absorb the meds.xx

The first couple of times i felt like it hadnt all gone in (although says it might not all go in) so i made sure to squeeze the tube thing couple times then keep it pressed in while I removed it so i didn't feel a suction. Sure I was told you could move about straight after but having used cyclogest before i was used to lying down so most of time I just lay for 20mins anyway sometimes nice to be forced to chill x

Yes I was doing the same on cyclogest.... good idea keeping the tube squeezed until removed, I’ll do that thank you! Xxx

You should stay on your back for 20min so that the vaginal wall has time to absorb as much product as possible. Also make sure you've totally emptied the tube.
