Clinics for DE treatment

Hi ladies what a confusing week!. I have had consultations with different clinics about the packages they offer for DE treatment.

One clinic is offering at home treatment where we get 6 eggs from an egg bank with a guarantee of 2 blastocysts (not tested). The egg would be thawed, fertilised and blastocyst frozen and they would do transfer. They also offer the option to travel abroad where our chosen donor would be stimulated and all eggs retrieved would be ours (need to check of the guarantee blastocysts this route). The eggs would then hopefully be fertilised and last to day 5 when they would do a fresh transfer.

This is just one clinics option .. I have looked at others but there is so much to consider.

Have any of you any experience with any of the above. I think that 6 eggs from the egg bank is a small enough number for the cost and while they guarantee 2 blastocysts they are untested.

The other route involving egg retrieval and insimimation on the same day would appear to be the better option as all the eggs retrieved would be ours.

Any thoughts on what would be a good option? Anyone been in a similar situation and how did it work out?

Thanks ladies.xx

I am currently 10 weeks pregnant with donor eggs, we travelled abroad and did a fresh round with our anonymous donor, we had 10 eggs and 3 top grade blastocysts at the end of it. It’s a tricky one but having done lots of research we decided to go down the fresh transfer route; it’s worked for us and we have 2 in the freezer still! Good luck xx

Huge congrats to you.

I just think with the egg bank route 6 eggs is a smallish number. While they are guaranteeing 2 blastocysts they are not tested. My doctor does not believe in testing as she states the donors are young but I have seen on here where blastocysts from DE have tested abnormal.

Do you mind me asking if you decided to test the blastocyst prior to transfer?

I also asked my doctor about frozen transfer versus fresh and she stated there is not munch difference.

The more research I do the more confused I get😝. I wouldn’t mind going to a clinic abroad but I would like if they had a satellite clinic or link doctor in my country (Ireland) for any support/follow up.

would you Ming PM me the name of the clinic you used and thanks again for the reply.xx

yeah honestly I don’t think there’s anything in it when it comes to results, I’ve seen lots of ladies have positive results from both frozen and fresh, so I think that’s literally 50/50! I didn’t have them tested as our donor was 25 and to be honest I’ve always been told it’s around 80% the egg quality that makes up an embryo anyway, also the donors are put through so much screening before they are able to donate so we took the risk again though it’s totally personal preference. We just followed the clinics lead on this round! X

I went to the UK’s largest egg bank in London. You can search online for your donor using very specific criteria from education to physical attributes and there are so many to chose from. They Are all frozen and you just pick off the shelf and buy. They work with a specific IVF clinic in the UK for the treatment. It was soooo quick and soooo easy. I purchased a cohort of 10 and 5 made it to blast currently 39 weeks with two more in the freezer !!!

we are just at the start of our DE journey in Spain and I can understand what you are going through. It’s so hard to make a decision from all the choices. We opted for fresh donor selection and all eggs will be ours. Our clinic guarantees 8 fresh DEs.

Our clinic also suggested not to bother with embryos testing as donor will be young, but we are having sperm dna fragmentation testing for my hubby so we can rule out any sperm issues. Our clinic prefers to start with a fresh transfer, they present fresh odds at 55% success and FET at 49%, although not much of a difference in outcome, but I’ll take every % at this stage. we thought we’d do fresh and freeze any spare eggs and see how it goes.

Good luck to you xx
