Follicle question

How much do follicles grow in 24 hours? I’ve got one or 2 at 16 but a few others at 12 and 13, and just wondering how long they take to grow? The need to get to 17 but don’t know if I’ll run out of days. Thanks x

I was told by my clinic (and I think all clinics vary in guidance) that they can grown 2-3mm every 48 hours including after trigger. My clinic always counted everything at 14mm or over as they believed they would be over 17 by collection x

Hi Jam-master, I have asked this question at my latest scan this week and was told that they should grow around 2mm per day. If you are doing a fresh cycle now and want to chat let me know as we might have similar timings. Anyway good luck x

Thanks! I’m hoping that they leave me until Thursday or Friday for retrieval then maybe I’ll get a few more. Today is day 8 of stims, where about are you in your cycle?x

Today is my day 11 of stims, will have another scan tomorrow morning and possibly collection on Wednesday. When is your next scan? x

My next scan is Tuesday, I’m hoping a few more follicles grow!! I’ve been put on a lot of medication but my body isn’t responding as much as I want it to. This is my last try for a sibling for my son x

Same here Jam-master - I’m in the waiting room for my 3rd scan now on day 10 of stims and I’m responding slowly. I’ll probably be back here this week (Wednesday I imagine) for another blood test and scan but a lot is riding on how the follicles have grown (if at all) over the weekend. Let us know how you get on!

The upshot of my scan yesterday was that on day 11 of stims I had 1 at 12, 1 at 11 and 2 at 8, then 2 at 10.5, 1 at 10, 1 at 9.5 and 2 at 8. So still wee!

I’m back tomorrow for another scan and continuing stims at my usual dosage until then. I’ll perhaps then be in for retrieval Friday, Saturday or Sunday depending on how they get on (I suspect it will be at the weekend to give them another day to grow).

Sorry, only just seen your message, might be better to pm as then get notification.

I currently have 15 follicles but in it 2 smaller under 10mm and 4 over 19mm so they might not be good. I think that is around the same number I usually get, 2 previous cycles I got 7 eggs each time, 3 and 2 embryos and no luck so far 😏 Collection on Wednesday at 9:15am, let’s see what happens this time 🤞

It really depends. I had one grow 6 or 7mm in 2 days but others that only grew 1mm. Average is probably around 2 to 3mm in 2 days. I was told that they can get mature eggs from anything 14mm or above although they prefer them to be 17mm as more likely to have mature eggs in them then!

Thanks! It’s just frustrating as apart from the injections there’s not much else you can do to help them grow!

It is really frustrating! I was told by fertility nutritionisy to eat lots of good quality protein (ie not from processed foods) during the stimulation phase to help with growth. Not sure how much this helped or not though. I found it really difficult to get enough protein per day though! Good luck with it allxx

I’m on day 12 of stims. Thought I was going to be triggered tonight but they’ve decided to have another 2 nights of stims and another scan on Wed, so looking like collection on Friday now.
