NHS or private? If NHS there may not be much you can do but sometimes if your funding is approved you can see choose to have the treatment done at a private clinic that might be faster. If private, I’d shop around see if you can find anywhere that starts soon. I never had to wait long at all at my private London clinic x

unfortunately you may be in for a long wait that can’t be helped in that case. If you do decide to wait, I found throwing myself into a healthy lifestyle exercising, eating well and taking all my supplements helped me to feel like I was at least doing something during that time while you’re waiting to start xx

We were part way through treatment at an NHS clinic when the pandemic hit and they cancelled everything. Took a year for them to restart, had a round that ended in an early loss and then our clinic was still so delayed with the backlog, it would have been another six months just for a FET so we went private. It had already taken us years to get the referral in the first place and we felt like we were running out of time. The private experience was very different - took us on immediately and we were able to start treatment straightaway and they were much more flexible on timings - e.g., could go with natural cycles and do procedures on weekends, which was impossible with the NHS. However, we'd already used our NHS funding as we only got one round where we live so we weren't losing that (something to think about) and we went with one of the insurance packages and these often have age criteria.

a year is about the same wait we had in nhs before pandemic and I know plenty other who have had now had it longer as they still play a bit of catch up so I think the only way to guarantee to move quicker would be private I’m afraid 🤗 If you can find the cash I would defo go for it, your nhs clinic might even do private so yoj would still be going to same clinic but paying (which is sometimes a bit easier if you have already had some tests etc to be put on the wait list ) xx

aww that’s a shame there’s still a month on month try to get in with ours but no wait list for self funded so skips that part at least. Maybe there is somewhere else private local to you? Xx

If you went for a private cycle would you lose your NHS funding? Our area only offer 1 cycle on the NHS and only cover the cost of 50% of the medication required. We had a long wait for NHS treatment so we did two private cycles while waiting they both failed but we gained soo much information from them. This information was used to plan our NHS cycle which resulted our BFP. If we had waited for the NHS funding we would have probably had a similar cycle to our first and would now be back to square one looking for a private clinic. I would check your CCG requirements are first as some areas if you have had private treatment you won't be entitled to NHS treatment. Good luck with whatever you decide x

oh I never thought of it like that, we allowed 3 cycles and he we go private it takes away one of our rounds

If your NHS clinc also do private it might be worth speaking to them and if you can afford it going for a private a cycle. That way you would already be having treatment with them and if your private cycle fails you will have gained valuable information ready for your NHS cycles. Good luck.

If you decide to go private, it might be worth looking at clinics overseas. We did donor egg treatment in Czech Republic and it was much faster and cheaper.
