Cramps every day since embryo transfer - bad sign?

Hey everyone,

I’m really struggling to stay positive this cycle. I had a natural FET on Wednesday but I’ve had cramps on/off the whole time since. (Every day). I had a bit of red spotting and cramps 4hrs after transfer which freaked me out, but the clinic told me they had issues with the transfer so it was probably cervical irritation.

I just don’t know why I’ve carried on cramping the whole time. Plus weird pinches and sharp pains. It’s really thrown me off. I have issues with my cervix and have a transabdominal cerclage (TAC) so I’m really worried that the difficult transfer has provoked my cervix somehow or caused irritable uterus. 😔

My last transfer (fresh) I had cramps on 5dpt and a BFP at 9dpt, but it ended at 7 weeks. It felt more like implantation though as it was only the one day, whereas this has been every day since transfer (now 4dp5dt).

Could it be the progesterone? I’m on 3 utrogestan a day, just because I had bleeding in my last cycle. Obviously my body should be making it, too. So could it be that I just have lots of extra progesterone?!

Has anyone else had similar? How did it end? I’m trying to prepare myself xxx

100% progesterone - this is one of the classic side effects! Try not to panic, fingers crossed this is your rainbow xx

Thanks so much ❤️ I did wonder if that might be the case. I’ve been having horrible side effects from it (nausea, tiredness, sore boobs and I guess the cramps, too). I didn’t have any of this in my fresh cycle so I just panicked…hopefully it’s a good sign that the progesterone is doing what it’s supposed to! 🤞 xx

It is not bad nor good. It can be the progesterone, but sometimes in my case there were times when I had no cramps at all. I also read that sometimes, during the transference the catheter might irritate or "touch lightly" a place in the uterus and so this causes cramps for a couple days (E.x. one time a doctor with less experience did the transference, she was still learning/student and I had bad cramps for days)

Thanks so much for your reply. It’s reassuring just to hear other people’s experience. Hopefully it won’t have any impact on our outcome xx
