Me and my partner have just gone through 2 years in the NHS having test after test and repeat tests to get the diagnosis of azoospermia.
we finally got funding for SSR and sent to a private clinic.
we had an initial consultation with the clinic where they just discussed what we already knew. We are now waiting for a appointment with a urologist but they have not told us what this will consist of! And yeah the appointment won’t be until the 19th August! That will be 7 weeks after our intial consultation! We thought that now we are under a private clinic (with nhs funding) we would be well on our way through a treatment process.
Is this normal wait times?
After my partner has had SSR (fingers crossed it’s successful, we then have to apply for NHS funding again for the actual ICSI)
Im just becoming so inpatient after already a 2 year process just to get a diagnosis!
TIA

I know the feeling of being inpatient as time keeps ticking by and it feels like things go so slow or you get setbacks. I am still waiting for nhs referral for ivf, need another blood test as one of my levels is just slightly high but feels like I have been going round in circles to get to ivf since November last year. (Almost 3 years since we starting trying)
I don't know how fast or slow ivf cycles are, nhs or private and suspect I will end up feeling exactly the same as you when I hear some dates!! However it is the right step forward, think about your positive outcome at the end that will happen and in the meantime try to make sure you are really busy so you have less time to dwell.
Thank you , yes over 3 years for us trying. 2years of tests and waiting via NHS - now funding was approved and we were put with a private clinic for treatment. Now 7weeks for appointment with urologist. So inpatient now! Xx
I think we waited about the same from our first consultation, it seems like forever and then all of a sudden you'll be in the depths of treatment! All the best x ❤️
Hi Loveandscience. Oh dear, seems a very long winded process to me that could just end up with the same diagnosis of azoospermia! I can't see why the sperm when found after scanning, can't just be retrieved and you get ready for egg collection. Perhaps a bit of pestering the clinic might help to push things along a little. Hope all ends well for you both. Good luck! Diane
Thank You! Yes it’s been a very long process! We even had repeat tests and NHS said the clinic would want them and as over 6 months had passed since first lot we done them all again before they would refer us to clinic which added on more time.
We were ecstatic when we finally had appointment with clinic but they just went over what we already knew and said we need to see urologist ( …… more waiting 😢)
Becoming more and more frustrating!
I email the clinic and takes them 7days to email back 🤦🏻♀️
Xx
Can you ring for any cancellations in the meantime? X
We were in the same boat even though we went private in the end. The clinic messed us around. Sadly there was nothing to retrieve which left us no option but donor icsi but now that I’m 3 years older than I was when I started the investigations it isn’t working due to egg quality. The diagnosis sucks as you can’t even try for a natural pregnancy in between treatments. I’m so sorry that you are in this position and hope you have a better outcome. 🤞
