Progesterone then starting period. Confusion.

Hello everyone.

So I’ve been on progesterone to delay period whilst I was away. They said I’d come on today and has to be by midday to start meds tomorrow. My question. . My periods are always light and never really a full ‘flow’. So I had a slight brown bleed at 10:45 this morning ( more than spotting) clinic says has to be fresh red bleed? Should I wait and start Monday or would you call today day 1? Sometimes I don’t always get a bright red bleed.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated this is my first cycle and I’m so nervous and anxious already!

Hi My clinic always say the Day 1 is classed as fresh red blood. I have spotting sometimes and they do not class this as day 1. I've sometimes had trouble identifying my day 1 for this very reason but usually I need to wait for longer. Are your clinic closed at weekends? X

Thank you so much for your reply. I’ve just spoken to out of hours at my clinic and yea they want me to wait a little longer. With my light periods is super hard to judge Xx

I get what you mean. I have light periods too and identifying full flow can be difficult. I'm pleased you managed to speak to a nurse for some guidance xx

Hi Woody. Day 1 is the first day of full flow, not the late night start beforehand or similar. Good luck! Diane
