I had my retrieval on friday and I was pretty well until yesterday afternoon. Then all symptoms started- severe bloating and abdominal cramps and diarrhoea. I still have some bleeding PV ( small amount- more like spotting).
Is this normal? We are having a freeze all so my ovaries will get a rest.
Last year I had egg retrieval with minimal symptoms afterwards, so I am quite concerned. Today is sunday so I will not find anyone at the clinic.

Hi! I have PCOS and developed OHSS 5 days after egg collection. Had bloating and very painful abdominal cramps which would come and go. A hot water bottle really helped with the cramps. My consultant told me to take protein shakes or yoghurts because they help absorb the fluid building in the abdomen. I also took electrolyte sports drinks. My clinic recommended to go to A & E where they have a protocol of checking how serious the OHSS is. In the end, I didn't go to A & E, because my symptoms didn't seem to indicate severe OHSS. I recall also weighing myself and measuring the size of my waist daily to get an idea of how things progressed. From what I have read, severe OHSS occurs in most cases only after successful implantation because this is when HCGs double every day. Fingers crossed yours is and remains only mild! If in any doubt, go to A & E.
Hi Blueberry. Make sure you drink at least 3L water each day. Rest a little but remember to walk around too. Take paracetamol for any discomfort, but no anru unflammatories such as ibuprofwn. Keep an eye on urine output - lots and pale in colour. See doctor if you get breathless. Hopefully all willl soon pass. Diane
Thank you all for your replies. I am feeling better and went in for a review ultrasound today and did not find free fluid which is very reassuring. My pain is much better.
