Thursday last week i had a bright red bleed, week 5 of pregnancy. It didnt last long but since I've had brown blood when I wipe myself once or twice a day. Almost a week has passed and its been the longest week! I am so anxious I can't even think straight. All I manage to do is get up shower get dressed and sit back on my bed. I've spoken to my clinic that have a scan booked for me in two weeks time.

Anxiety through the roof!
I am so so sorry I know exactly how anxious you feel I’ve been there twice, there’s nothing I can say that will make it any easier but just wanted to say you what you are feeling is understandable. I know it’s a little early for a scan but I wonder if you could ask your clinic to do a set of bloods 48 hours apart to test your HCG? It’s not as reassuring as a scan but in both my cases it showed the direction we were going in (once was a miscarriage and once was my healthy baby boy!) the main thing they will want to see if your HCG doubling every 48-72 hours xx
Hey, just wanted to let you know my experience which may help you feel a little more positive! I had a bright red bleed for one day at exactly 5 weeks. The red stopped by the afternoon and a bit of brown continued but then that stopped too after a few days. I’m now 16 weeks and have had 2 healthy scans so far. My clinic suggested either implantation or break through period bleed. I know every pregnancy is different but when I was going through it reading positive outcomes really helped. Good luck!
Hey hun, so sorry to hear how anxious you are feeling and I completely can understand. I had 3x massive bright red bleeds in my week 5 and thought it was all over but when they scanned me all looked normal and couldn’t see any reason for it. Might have been acute hematoma’s that bled out quickly every time hence the clear scans. I am now in my week 15 so it isn’t always bad news!
That said if the spotting continues or further bright red bleed starts I would check your local EPU as it can be wise to speak to them and they might want to scan you to rule out other things like an ectopic and making sure it implanted in the right place which they should see a sac of some kind by now. Maybe not much else but that might re assure you. (I also had ectopics and EPU always been amazing to make sure I am Oke and took bloods regular and scans etc). And even if your pregnancy is via IVF your clinic likely will still refer you to your local EPU as they can act on anything not right where the IVF clinic can’t. So if you feel that anxious maybe that could give you some answers to know what you are dealing with.
For now try to think positive and many ladies on here had bleeds and go on having healthy pregnancies! I hope you will be one of them ❤️
I’d push for an early scan with the early pregnancy unit. Give them a call. Or go for a private scan, if you can. And how are you feeling in yourself, symptom wise?
I started bleeding at 5 weeks too. I’m 12 weeks this Saturday. 🤞🌈 A scan at 6 weeks revealed a hematoma.
I’ve bled ever since 5 weeks, which, bizarrely, I’m just used to now. 🤣 I’ve had to wear a pad everyday. I had a massive bleed at about 7 weeks, accompanied with cramping. I’ve had 4 scans and every time everything has been fine.
Bizarrely, you can have bleeding all through the first trimester and everything be fine. And in my case, even bleeding with cramping - crazy!
My 2nd scan, the hematoma looked bigger, which terrified me. But my 3rd and 4th scans showed it getting smaller.
My doc said hematomas are really common. He said he usually doesn’t tell women about them, because they just get reabsorbed and don’t cause any issues. In my case, it’s ‘bleeding out’ as opposed to reabsorbing.
Bleeding is utterly terrifying. I really feel for you. Try and push for a scan so you can see what’s going on.
Lots of love.
