Hi ladies, yesterday I had a huge scare as my breast tenderness and fullness disappeared all of a sudden. Today then did hcg again and a scan. Not sure about the bloods but the scan went well. One question, when do they measure the heart rate and when is it possible to hear the heartbeat rather that just seeing it on the screen? I’m still terrified as with my second pregnancy the heart was weak and slow and then it stopped.
First scan at 5+5: measuring spot on ... - Fertility Network UK
First scan at 5+5: measuring spot on and there is a hearbeat 💓 At what stage they measure the heartbeat frequency?
Woohoo these are some fantastic news! As far as I know heartbeat is seen after at least 6 weeks ❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊😊 So on the next scan Yayyyy
Great to hear that your little bubba is measuring spot on at the scan. xxx
So happy to see this! 5+5 is super early to see a heartbeat so I would say that it’s a very positive sign there is already one there ♥️ I would expect them to measure it closer to 7 weeks Xxx
Such good news! To see a heartbeat and all is well at this stage is so promising! xx
Ahhhh - great news!! That's early to see a heartbeat so it's super promising. Hopefully on the next scan they'll let you hear it. I think the ultrasound machine actually converts the image into a sound from what I can tell when they've done mine so far 🤔 so you might need bub to be a bit bigger. Best of luck! X
Thank you. I hope so, I need constant reassurance! How are your little ones and how are you feeling? Xx
I'm still in shock / disbelief about it all to be honest! But feeling okay physically. And little ones are doing well, I think!
It's also definitely the image converting to sound as one of the babies started turning mid-heartbeat measurement during my NHS scan today and it went haywire so she just took a short snip of it instead to get the measurement and wasn't concerned at all. She said it was just because baby moved. So I hope that helps! It's all a bit fascinating how they do it. xx
Great news, so glad things are on track for you❤️
Lovely news! 💙💜❤️
Congratulations! For me, they measured the rate at my 7 week viability scan, and they can do this with the ultrasound. But I didn’t actually hear it it until 16 weeks I think, with a different machine - it’s a fetal Doppler if I remember correctly.
Congratulations, really pleased all seems on track! 🥰 xx
That’s great news, Great to see all that so early on! We didn’t actually ‘hear’ the heartbeat until 16 weeks and wasn’t with an ultrasound (the midwife used a Doppler/stethoscope thing in the local doctors office). They can measure the Beats per minute though at ultrasound from around 8 weeks if I remember correctly and the private ultrasound clinic let us hear the heartbeat at an ultrasound too but we had to pay for that (and recorded it in a little teddy). Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy xx
I guess I have to wait the next scan and see if they can measure the beats. To be honest I asked and the doctor said they don’t do it so early as it wouldn’t be accurate. Aw I want the teddy bear 😍 where was that? xx
I remember the clinic saying to highlight the blood flow for heartbeat in the earlier (internal) scans they don’t like doing it for very long as they need to turn something on that isn't great for long periods and yeah the just told me it was a ‘normal’ heartbeat not the bpm. The teddy was just at a private scan place in Glasgow but there are loads of places out there, scans cost between £55-£80 depending how early if you want 3D etc and I had ones at 10, 14, 24, 30 and 34 weeks in between nhs ones to help with my anxiety and it was worth every single penny! I know the wait between scans will feel like a lifetime for you with everything you’ve been through sending you hugs 🤗 you got this you are doing great! xx
We saw the heartbeat on scan at week 7+1, but like others - we did not hear it until week 16 with a Doppler. So not sure. Perhaps speak to clinic about your fear - or your midwife once they are in touch. And hopefully they can support you as best able to.
But I am glad your scan went well and that is all great news!! Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy!! 🥰🧡
Thank you! As my little one I lost had low beat rate I worry about this, but I guess it’s all a worry at the moment! I’ll try to take one step at a time 💕
Of course you will worry! The fear of it happening again.. but this is a different pregnancy! It is not easy to relax though.. but deep breaths every so often and one step at a time! .. and do speak to your midwife, I am sure they can help reassure along the way! The fear of something going wrong is real .. and although it does get easier with time.. I am afraid to say in my experience it does not go away completely, but gets easier 🥰 big hug 🧡
Wow! Great news! They can’t always detect anything at 5.5 weeks. They should be able to get a reading by 7-8 weeks. Do you have a scan booked for then?
I'm not sure where you are but I'm in Wales and you don't get to listen to babies heartbeat until 25 weeks here as they are too small until that point. X
This is great news! ❤️❤️❤️ Heartbeat at 5+5 is really promising 😊 we had a private scan at 6+6 and the technician did measure the heartbeat frequency, but she didn't understand which day we were into the pregnancy and gave us a scare that it was too slow (it wasn't!). They don't need to let you hear the sound to measure the frequency, the sonograph should be able to pick that from the flickering of the image.
Anyway, it is very promising, keeping my fingers crossed for you! 🍀🍀🍀
I’ve just caught up on your latest developments…! Oh wow, this is like a movie the ups and downs of your fertility journey.. I’m over the moon for you, really praying this is your time now lovely 🙏🏼 You deserve it so much ❤️
With actually hearing the heartbeat it depends solely on the equipment your clinic/hospital use, some of them don’t have an audible doppler. Some will be able to measure the rate, you can always ask. Stay strong, you and your amazing little fighter bean! Take care x x x
Awww thank you! Yes I’ll get the prayers thanks! How are you doing? You must be at least 6 months now? Xx 🥰
Yes we’ll be in the third trimester on Friday, can’t believe it! I literally still can’t believe I’m pregnant after all this time, it’s definitely a knock on effect of infertility.
I’ll be thinking of you and sending prayers and good vibes over these next few weeks. First trimester really is like walking on egg shells for 6 weeks but you’ve totally got this. It’s so so special this little one came to you naturally ❤️ We’re rooting for you lovely, take care and take it easy x x x
Also from the scan they could tell I ovulated from the left and from my tube test in 2020 it was blocked, I was due a laparoscopy for this!
Awww that’s such a relief to be approaching the 3rd trimester, so happy for you! 😍 you’re almost there!!!
Hi hun, I am so excited for you and I really hope this little bean grows strong and big 🥰🥰🥰
I have asked at all my scans but all 3 clinics (IVF, NHS and private window to the womb scan place) they said they won’t do it. Not to listen to it and none of them have measured the bpm. Had my 12 week scan yesterday and even then she was like, we don’t measure the bpm as not useful.
I think if everything is looking oké they don’t further check but totally understand your worry! But seeing a heartbeat at 5+5 is definitely early so hopefully meaning a strong little bean 🥰
Hang in there and I hope you can control the anxiety! ❤️
Thank you! The wait for scans in the waiting room kills me but apart from that I’m doing well and keeping positive. How are you doing? What week are you now? 💕 xx
Great news. I was able to hear the heartbeat at my viability scan at 7+2, I don’t think they put the sound on as standard, but if you ask they might say yes xxx
Fabulous news!! I'm not quite sure to be honest. We had ours done in a private scan at around 9wks but I know the NHS checked ours at our 7wk scan but we didn't get to hear it or anything....in fact they did it without us realising as we just got told all was well with the heartbeat. Best of luck as ways lovely.xxx
Thank you 😌 as I lost a baby with bradycardia I’m a bit worried but I guess I worry about everything now and it will be like this for a while! How old are your little ones now? xxx
I'm so sorry for all that you have gone through, your loss is unimaginable! I think when we have lost our precious ones we are always going to be nervous, nervous doesn't even cover it. I do hope this is your time sweetheart, you so deserve this.We are OK thank you, the boys are just over a year now.xxx
