Hi, I had a positive pregnancy test last week following IVF. I had a very small bleed which stopped very quickly then a bit of spotting, so the hospital asked me to go for bloods. On Thursday afternoon (at four weeks three days) my hcg was 220. I repeated the test Saturday morning and it’s only risen to 284. So the hospital have asked me to do another blood test on Wednesday. I know it should have doubled in the first result but I am really trying to stay positive and relaxed until the next test. Does anyone have positive stories with slow rising hcg please? I don’t think I can cope with anything negative. And any advice about how I can try to switch off before my next test please?! Thank you

HCG rising slowly
I’m so sorry it’s a stressful day wait until your next test. I haven’t been in exactly this situation so I can’t comment on the HCG but I have had a loss after IVF and on staying positive I think that’s exactly the way to go, keep believing in your baby. Your HCG has still been rising. In my personal experience preparing for the worst doesn’t makes it any easier or less painful, it just extends the time you feel miserable for if it does happen. I have seen all sorts of stories on these boards and everybody is so unique and individual, what happened to someone else does not mean it’s what will happen for you. To stay sane, try and step away from Google and plan things you enjoy. Find a really gripping box set (preferably with nothing about having babies), get out in nature and I found guided meditations really helpful. Sending you all the strength and positivity I can to get you through the days until your next test and hoping for the best xx
Hope everything goes ok, wishing you strength and courage xx
No one checked my HCG levels and so I wonder if it’s better being ignorant. The procedure was pregnancy test- if positive book a viability scan for the 7-8 week mark and sit through that awful wait. I’ve heard that they don’t always double at the beginning for some people who’ve had success - at least yours is going in the right direction.
Hope all goes well with your blood results Thinking of you
