I am starting round 2 of treatment, this time FET next month. I just wanted to ask for some own experiences and advice with choosing transfer of 1 or 2 embryos. 1 being 4bc and 2nd 3bc. Of course they advice 1 however just wanted to know experiences and outcomes before we 100% decide!
Thank you all ❤️

I am 22 weeks with twins as we tranferred 2 x day 5 blastocysts. However, this was not the first time we transferred 2 or 1 for that matter, so it never occurred to us it could be twins.
Of course we are over the moon, but do be aware that in the NHS everyone will think this was a bad idea from midwives to specialists. So be prepared for the fact that whilst you might be over the moon, all the medical staff around you will constantly remind you how much higher risk of complications you are. On the positive side, unlike most pregnant women, I have ultrasounds every month and all the care is consultant led, so far more monitored. (Looking at the upsides :D).
There is a theory though, that if the embryos are not of equal quality (not sure what that exactly means) then the lower grade embryo can lessen the chances of the higher grade embryo working. Although our embryologist dismissed that.
You also have to bear in mind that putting two back in does not double your chances. It might be worth having a chat with your embryologist. It is near on impossible to corner them on your chances, but they might give you an idea of how much they think it will higher your chances of pregnancy. So if your chances only go from 50% to 55% you might be better having 2 chances at 50%.
In my case the decision was made purely on age and sheer amount of goes we had, so it does depend a lot also on how much time you have left. And also the reason for IVF as if it is a woman's body that might be the issue, by doing 2 tries you are giving your body 2 chances to be ready.
My advice, just go with your gut feeling. Sorry,. That was no help at all.
Had IVF through NHS. Throughout the process, we were told 1 is the best option. On the day of the transfer, they actually advised that in my particular case, transferring 2 increases (but not doubles) the chances of a successful pregnancy and they recommend it, so had 2 transferred. They were right, I'm almost 20 weeks now with a singleton. At that point my gut was not trustworthy (anxiety through the roof) so I just trusted the specialists.
I had three rounds and on my third theconsultant recommended a double transfer. We put two different grades in an A and a C grade they were both day 5s. Our other embryo left was a day 6 hence they went with the two day 5s at different grades. Now 34 weeks with pregnant with twins and feeling so unbelievably blessed! My medical care has been great and so far I’ve only experienced really positive opinions encouragement about the fact we decided on two and ended up with twins. The risks are discussed early on but all being well with two embryos providing one doesn’t split they are the lowest risk twins as they have their own little homes and placentas.
