Help, 1 or 2 Blastocysts?
Me and my husband made the division to have to put in all though they weren't both good grades and one stuck an we are now 12 weeks I just thought if it gives us a slightly better chance it's worth trying an glad we did as don't know which stuck and I'd always loved the idea of twins X good luck in what ever u decide xx
Hi Fatooli we had one failed fresh cycle with one replaced and a chemical pregnancy with fet again one replaced. Both top quality blastocysts. I lost faith in my clinic and moved. My previous clinic Had refused to replace two embryos due to my crohns despite it being in complete remission and an episode of high BP but that was a reaction to the buserilyn. Anyway the new clinic had no objection to replacing two of the four remaining blastocysts we had. We had our viability scan last Thursday and I'm overwhelmed to announce we are expecting twins April 17!!!! I'm 40 so time was running out for me so if time is on your side and you don't like the idea of multiples air on side of caution. Apparently the odds don't increase greatly but in my opinion stands to reason two increases your chances!
Best of luck I hope you get your bfp!
Hello Ramdall55
Thank you so so much for your reply. Means so much to all especially when time is ticking, I'm 37 and with endometriosis now over 14 years so my egg contents is low after countless operations another reason why I stand with you in your decision. Many many huge congratulations to you all. So happy to hear these positive stories, made my day and my decision is becoming clearer. A question did you ever have or run risk of OHSS over reacting to the meds and now that you are carrying twins I hate the phrase "high risk" what are your main worries other than chromed and BP. Not that they would not be a worry in the back of your mind. Know it's early days but would love to hear about what you've experienced to date.... π―π―π―ππΌππππ
Hi hope u dont mind me replying to ur question my second cycle i did suffer OHSS but still choice to have my two day 5 embryos put back and got BFP i was ill with the OHSS but was worth it to see them 2 lines come up on the test..my sister has also just had twins and they told her 'high risk' meaning she had to rest as much as possible and got put on bed rest for the last month..hope this helps any questions u can always pm me if u want x x x
It's a really tough decision! We had decided to do two as we wouldn't mind the prospect of twins and I'm not getting any younger so time is of the essence however our clinic wasn't keen on the idea. It is ultimately our decision though and are still aiming for this when we go for our second treatment....first time round we had none to transfer! Good luck!x
Hi Fatooli,
I'm still trying to process the news! My bp is well under control in fact currently it's a bit low as been dizzy. I have app with my gastro in November so will discuss with him plans re my crohns, I have felt my bowels be sluggish and bloated early on so trying to eat healthy and fibre! I was taking amitriptiline for entrepathic pain similar to fibro but I came off it pre starting this round of treatment. I am on quad therapy which is a combination of steroids, pessaries, heparin injections and hrt patches. This isn't done on nhs so self funded at the private clinic it cost hundred quid. As my doctor felt perhaps my auto immune system was attacking the embryos hence two top quality ones had failed. My experience of the clinic (Manchester fertility) has been phenomenal nothing has been too much trouble. Due to my px surgery I have a lot of scar tissue so my transfers have been very difficult and painful but the doctor was so patient and reassuring! Symptoms wise I haven't had sickness or sore boobs so was massively worried but all ok and could see their little hearts pumping away! I worry about the risks of course massively, I worry about space in there lol! The births and the decision to go with natural or Caesarian may well be taken out of my hands. For now I'm just trying to enjoy the news and await the next scan- sometimes I think omg I haven't had any symptoms all day then the stretching sensation and heartburn kicks in oh and the constant need for a pee! I wouldn't change any of it, last year I read similar posts to mine and thought it would never be me but look at me now so I hope you can take some hope, positivity and determination that it will be your time xxxπ±π±ππ·π·
Hi hun i had 1 top quality day 5 put back in my first cycle it didnt work but second time i had 2 top quality day 5 put back in and got BFP..good luck x x x
We agreed we would have one put back on the first go, and if that didn't work we would definitely try two the next time. I would love twins but there are a lot more risks so I figured trying one then two was the safest option. The first one stuck so we didn't have to put two back, but if this isnt your first go I think I'd go with putting two back in. Good luck!
The embryologist said to us that if you have a good quality blastocyst, the chance of you having a successful pregnancy is about 40% whether you implant 1 or 2 but the chance of twins with two blastos is high - about 70%. They told us that they would prefer to just implant the one because of the complications of multiple births. It's still hypothetical for us - we're just starting injections - but thought it might help you make a decision. Good luck! Xxx
We decided fo go for 1 in the end and I was more than happy I did that throughout the pregnancy. After so long of ttc, I found myself very nxious during my pregnancy. I am sure carrying twins would ha e taken the anxiety go a whole new level, given the risks associated with a twin pregnancy...
