Warning DHEA

I just want to warn everyone about DHEA. obviously I know you can't get it in the UK and you order it from America or another country. I was told by my clinic that I had to be on it for 3 months before IVF. I've never had a problem with it before. But recently my order hadn't arrived and tracking said stuck in Stansted. I just received a letter from the police saying it was destroyed by border control as this is a class C drug. I had a caution under the miss use of drugs act!!! and If anymore came to my house, they would press charges. obviously I'm horrified and trying to talk to the police. But a warning to all, I had no idea it was a classified drug.

I was so shocked to read this. So I just spent an hour going through a judgement that I cant fckn copy and paste on this bloody website. Grrrrrr! Attaching a screenshot so maybe you can Google the case number. The judgement, by the way, went in favour of the appellant against Border Force.

Firstly, DHEA is called something else entirely in the classified substances list which you would have no way of knowing. Secondly, it is available on private prescriptions and your medical professionals had clearly advised its use. Thirdly you could actually bring it in yourself, legally, for your own consumption. [How does that make any sense?!??!] So you have a strong case to make to the police. Lastly, apparently there is a way to get a licence from the Home Office to import a controlled substance. Google "controlled drugs licence fees". It's £24. There is also a number to call to clarify which I would do if I were you.

I'm really horrified by this. It could have easily been me in your shoes alongside many many many other women I know.

Let us know how you get on. I really like dhea, I genuinely believe it made a significant difference in my egg quality.

I couldn't believe it either. I've got to wait till tomorrow to speak to the officer. But when you look, DHEA is a class C drug. which I was so shocked about. Thank you for that, I will look into it. I know, I do as well. but I'm to scared to order it again, as I will be prosecuted and I would loose my job. Terrified me

Jesus, as if IVF isn't hard enough, the police destroy expensive drugs to help you get pregnant. Could you keep us updated, please? I'm 41, had a BFN yesterday and am considering trying it.

that ie exactly what I'm going to say to them. I can't believe it. its apparently in the steroids category, my clinic where so shocked. I'm so sorry to hear that. its such a emotional roller coaster. I do believe it helps, I'll let you know what the police sat x

Oh how awful you poor thing! I’ve ordered it lots of times without issue! And really feel that it helped!

Which website did you order it from? I’m also needing to order more sometime soon but now I’m a bit scared!

I ordered through bovevia, but to my husband it the states. he posted is 2 day tracked so I would get it quicker as I was running out. I don't know If that was why. But he's posted before with no problem. He's also bough it over. I'm just so scared about it, cos he could of lost his job 2. i had no idea

My IVF clinic warned me that it was reclassed at some point early in 2021, and of not ordering it online -- I believed it was a 'scam' for forcing me to buy their overpriced one, but they were actually telling the truth... (I bought it from them since there was no time to wait for the delivery from the US)

thank you for this. that's right you have to be licensed and have a prescription. My clinic dont do that. But your safe doing that, so it's worth the extra

I can't believe it! This is shocking. I actually ordered it few days ago and it arrived safely. I think you were really unlucky but also this would have to be explained. I'm so sorry to hear you need to go through this extra additional stress!

honestly I can't believe its a class c drug, just so shocked. it makes me feel like a criminal, for taking a fertility supplement. thanks a lot

spoke to the police today and DHEA is a class C drug due to it being a steroid. The only reason I wasn't prosecuted is due to not being known to police. Otherwise I would have been done for possession and importing a illegal substance. You must have a licence to import. He said you should only get it from a clinic on prescription

hi! thank you. I'm not taking it or buying it when it's not legal here. my clinic don't store or prescribe it. I'm just so cross xx
